Kindergarten News
***SPRING PHOTOS were sent home last week.
**Returned photos OR payments are due ASAP.
In Reading we will start a new story titled, This Is the Way We Go to School. It
is a fiction story about children around the world. We will work with the letter sounds /y/ and /kw/
for the letters Yy and Qq. The
comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is drawing conclusions. Watch

and have your child practice the Words to
Read!
In Math, we will begin Unit 8- Coins and
Financial Literacy. We will be identifying coins; penny, nickel,
dime, and quarter by name and talk about earning income, and understanding the
difference between spending and saving. Please review and sign Unit 7 when it is
enclosed in RETURN next week.
Monday,
April 22nd is Earth Day. Earth day is a day to remember
to take care of our planet by keeping it clean.
We will be talking about the environment and discussing the important
rule that tells us to “reduce, reuse, and recycle” and how following this rule
can make a difference. Perhaps as a
family you could plan a special project in your neighborhood!
Our last classroom Scholastic
Book Order is due on Tuesday, April 23rd for anyone interested in
ordering. Thank you to all who have participated this
school year!
The 6th Annual NSE PTO BASKET RAFFLE will be held on Sat.
April 27th, 10-5 pm and Sunday, April 28th, 10-3 pm, shop and drop both days, with
the tickets being pulled shortly after 3 pm in the Elem. School Gym. **The
classroom from each grade whose basket has the most tickets at the end of the
raffle will receive an ICE CREAM PARTY for their classroom! THANK YOU to all who contributed
to our class basket “A NIGHT WITH THE FAMILY”.
**A list of items in our
basket/bin was sent home on 4/15. Don’t
forget…every NSE student attending the raffle receives on FREE SHEET of special
student tickets for the BASKET RAFFLE that can be used for the student-only
prize tables, homeroom baskets and/or general prizes!
Students who donated to the classroom basket will get a free Spartan
Dress Down Day on Friday, 4/26 and will also receive a ticket to enter his/her
name for a special prize at the auction! (tickets will be sent home Thursday, 4/25)
Kindergarten
Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 1:00 pm in the NS
High School Auditorium. Specific
details about parking, seating, etc. will be sent home closer to the date. Due to limited seating, each Kindergarten
student will be limited to 5 tickets.
**If a small child (non-school age) is going to sit on an adult’s lap,
they will not need a ticket. **Your
Kindergarten child is not part of the count. No one will be admitted to Graduation
without a ticket. Graduation
tickets will be sent home on Monday, May 20th. **If
tickets are misplaced, we will not be able to replace them.
**Monday, April 22nd is Day 10 –Art. Students will need sneakers and gym attire
on Friday, April 26th.
