Week of April 15-19, 2019

Kindergarten News
SPRING PHOTOS were sent home on Wednesday, April 10th.  Returned photos OR payments are due by Wednesday, April 17th
In Reading we will start a new story titled, On the Move.   It is an informational text by author Donna Latham.  We will work with the letter sounds /v/ and /z/ and the comprehension skill, main idea.  Watch for your new Family Times newsletter and have your child practice the Words to Read!
In Math, we will finish Unit 7-Measurement, Time and Data.   Please review daily practice pages!  Continue to practice addition and subtraction and writing number sentences with a plus sign and a minus sign.
Students in Grades 3-6 will be taking the PSSA tests this week.  Kindergarten’s schedule will be switched around M-W, 4/15-4/17.  Special classes will be 9:00-9:40 instead of 1:50-2:30. Please talk to your child about being quiet while in the hallways during testing days!!
Scholastic book orders will be due Tuesday, April 23rd.  **This will be our last class book order due to the School-wide Book Fair being held next month in the NSE library. 
The 6th Annual NSE PTO BASKET RAFFLE will be held on Sat. April 27th, 10-5 pm and Sunday, April 28th, 10-3 pm, shop and drop both days, with the tickets being pulled shortly after 3 pm in the Elem. School Gym. **The classroom from each grade whose basket has the most tickets at the end of the raffle will receive an ICE CREAM PARTY for their classroom!  THANK YOU to all who contributed to our class basket “A NIGHT WITH THE FAMILY”.  **A list of items in our basket/bin will be sent home early this week!
      Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 1:00 pm in the NS High School Auditorium.  Specific details about parking, seating, etc. will be sent home closer to the date.
      The March/April Behavior Reward for Kindergarten will be an Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 18th.  Please encourage good behavior!
Congratulations to all students who successfully completed their United States’ reports!  It was a fun and educational way to learn about some of the “Fifty Nifty United States”.  **Thank you to all the parents who helped “prepare” the boys and girls for their second oral report!
**Monday, April 15th will be Day 6 –Computers.    Students will need library books for exchange on Wednesday, April 17th and need sneakers and gym attire on Thursday, April 18th!  (**School WILL be in session on Thursday, April 18th for a snow make-up day.)
