Kindergarten News
For Reading we will begin Unit 5: Going Places. Our first story will be Max Takes the Train by Rosemary Wells. It is an animal fantasy story and we will be
discussing realism and fantasy.
Please practice all sight words daily! Since we will be working with the letter Jj
and its sound as in joke, students are asked to tell a kid’s JOKE this week. Jokes can be
written down or memorized and should be practiced at home before they are told
to the class. Jokes can be shared any day!
For Math, we will continue with Unit 5; Understanding
Subtraction. Students will act out
and solve subtraction word problems, will use the minus sign to represent take
away situations when recording subtraction, will use the equal sign, subtract,
and write the difference. Review
practice pages as they come home in the folder.
NSE PTO will be selling the 2018-2019 yearbook. The cost
of the yearbook is $25.00. Orders
are due no later than Friday, March 22nd. Cash,
checks and money orders are accepted, made payable to NSE PTO.
The
Community Involvement Movie Night will be held on Friday, March 22nd
at 7 PM in the NS High School
Auditorium. All are welcome to attend!
Spring
Photos are scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th. **For best
results, DO NOT wear GREEN. All students will be photographed. Pictures will be available for purchase in
7-10 days. Background for girls will
be #3 and for boys #4. To request a
different background complete and return the form sent home on Thursday, 3/14.
**The PTO Basket Auction will be held on
April 27th and 28th. Our class’ theme basket is “A Night With the Family”. So
far Mrs. Potts has received One monetary donation, a 3-in-1 game set, a 1000 piece puzzle, and a box of a few crafts. Donations
are due to the teacher the week ending April 5th. There is no value set and you can be
creative!! **Please refer to the (blue)note
sent home with suggestions and ideas. Students,
who bring a donation, will earn a free dress down day on Friday, April 26th.
FYI: Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will
be taken on Thursday, April 4th. (There will be NO make-up picture
day.) Information with portrait package details will be sent home soon.
Kindergarten Graduation will be held
on Tuesday, May 28th @ 1:00 pm in the high school auditorium. **Please note there was a misprint on
the District Calendar and Kindergarten Graduation will NOT be the 29th!
Monday, March 18th
is Day 1—Computers. Be sure to bring library books on Wednesday, 3/20 and wear sneakers
and gym attire on Thursday, 3/21
