FINAL REMINDER—Teeth Brushing Charts are due ASAP!
In Reading we will read the story, Abuela, by author Arthur Dorros.  It will be the last of our “adventure” stories for Unit 4.  It will be a fiction story about a city adventure and the boys and girls will learn a few Spanish words.  We will work with short and long /e/ sounds and the letter Ee and practice the comprehension skill, setting.  Check out the new Family Times newsletter in your child’s folder.  Please practice high frequency word cards.
For Math, we will begin with Unit 5; Understanding Subtraction.  Students will act out and solve subtraction word problems, will use the minus sign to represent take away situations when recording subtraction, will use the equal sign, subtract, and write the difference.  Review practice pages as they come home in the folder.  **Review, sign and return Unit 4 Test when it is enclosed in RETURN.
Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020, school year will be held this week, March 11-15.  Registration is open to all residents of the NS School District.  Please pass along this information to anyone with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall.  Appointments should be scheduled with the office.
Newspaper in Education Week ended on Friday, March 8th.  Check for Mrs. Potts’ ad in the Thursday, March 7th Classified Section.  Ads can be turned in any day for a treat from the teacher.  **The “I’m a Reader” forms, for those who participated, NEED to be returned to the teacher by Wednesday, March 13th with a parent’s signature and initial for each day of the week.
NSE PTO will be selling the 2018-2019 yearbook.  The cost of the yearbook is $25.00. Orders are due no later than Friday, March 22nd.  Cash, checks and money orders are accepted, made payable to NSE PTO. 
Daylight Savings began Sunday, March 10th.  **As per the student handbook, students will NOW be permitted to wear dress code appropriate shorts to school (weather permitting of course).
**The PTO Spring Basket Raffle will be held on April 27th and 28th.  Our class’ theme basket is “A Night with the Family”.  So far Mrs. Potts has only received one donation—a box of a few crafts.  Donations are due to the teacher the week ending April 5. There is no value set and you can be creative!!  **Please refer to the blue note sent home previously with suggestions and ideas.
Monday, March 11th is Day 1—Computers.  Be sure to wear sneakers and gym attire on Thursday, 3/14 (**Please note if school is cancelled the schedule bumps to the next day).
