Week of February 11-15, 2019

Kindergarten News
*For Reading we will finish with the story, My Lucky Day, by Keiko Kasza and will begin the next story, One Little Mouse, by Dori Chaconas.  It will be a rhyming/concept story and we will review the comprehension skill, sequence.  We will introduce consonant blends too.  Look for the new Family Times newsletter in your child’s folder.  **Also, don’t forget to practice your high frequency sight word flashcards!!
*In Math we will begin Unit 4: Understanding Addition.  Practice counting and joining sets.  Please review practice pages and continue to count to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s, write numbers 0-20, and identify number names to 100.  **Review, sign, and RETURN Unit 3 Assessment.
          *There WILL BE SCHOOL for students and teachers on Friday, February 15 and Monday, February 18 due to a scheduled snow make-up days.
         *FRIDAY, 2/15 will be our VALENTINE’s DAY PARTY from 2:00-3:00pm.  **Students need to bring valentines on or before 2/15.  (A pink class Valentine list was sent home Monday, 2/4.) 
         *Friday, Feb. 15th is a Spartan Dress Down Day.  All staff and students can wear a Spartan shirt with jeans or sweatpants with a $1.00 donation.
         *Teeth-brushing charts are due back on March 1.  Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a “dental health” treat from Mrs. Potts.  (Remember to continue to eat healthy foods, brush and floss your teeth, and visit a dentist at least once a year to keep your smile looking great!)
FYI:  Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will be held March 11-15, 2019.  Registration is open to all residents of the NS School District.  Please pass along this info. to anyone with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall.  Appointments should be scheduled with the office. 
     Monday, February 11th is Day 7--Music on the special classes’ schedule.  **Boys and girls will need Library books on Tuesday, 2/12, and sneakers and gym attire on Wednesday, 2/13.
