**In Reading we will begin the new story A Bed for the Winter by Karen Wallace.  It will be an informational text.  We will discuss Fiction and Non-Fiction, winter homes, and work on the comprehension skill, sequence.  We will be working on the short /i/ sound as in inch, igloo, and iguana.  Watch for the new Family Times and Phonics Reader to be sent home.  Continue to practice the high frequency words.

**In Math we will begin working on Unit 2: Numbers 11 to 20.  Students should be practicing writing numbers from 0-10.  Take some time at home to review practice pages completed at school.   Also, practice counting to 100, identifying numbers 0-100, and naming the next number when given a number.

**We will begin preparing for “Thanksgiving”.  During the next two weeks, students will learn about the first Thanksgiving, will make pilgrim and Native American/Indian costumes, and will begin to learn a poem or song for the holiday.  We will make a Thanksgiving bracelet and will also discuss being “thankful”.  The students will even get to use a Native American name for a day!

FYI:  The NS Student Council is sponsoring the Feed-a-Friend campaign in our school district.  The campaign will continue until Tues. November 13th.  We are collecting both non-perishable food and monetary donations to help less fortunate people in Schuylkill County enjoy a holiday dinner.  Student council representatives will be taking our donations to the Salvation Army in Pottsville on Wed. 11/14.

Friday, November 16th is the monthly paid Spartan Dress Down Day.  Students may wear jeans or sweats and a Spartan shirt with a $1 donation.

Wednesday, November 21st will be an early dismissal day @ 12:00.  **Students who earn their monthly reward will be rewarded on 11/21.  Encourage S-P-AR-T-Y behavior!
