Week of November 19-23, 2018

Kindergarten News
Monday, Nov. 19th will be Day 6—Computers (due to the weather cancellations on Thursday and Friday, 11/15-11/16.  Wednesday, Nov. 21st will be a NON-ROTATION day due to the monthly PBIS reward and Early Dismissal. **Please note the change from the monthly calendar.
In Reading the next story will be Jack and the Beanstalk.  It is a modern fairy tale.  For Phonics, we will be reviewing letter Ii and its short and long sounds.  We will be discussing more with realism and fantasy.  Keep practicing ALL high frequency words. 
**AR/Book Buddy recording sheets for November will be due back to school on Friday, November 30th.  Any student who reaches the goal of 15 books will receive a Pizza Hut Book It slip and a treat from Mrs. Potts.
In Math, we will be continuing with Unit 2; Numbers 11-20.  Review the daily practice pages with your child, practice counting to 100 by 1’s, Identifying numbers 0-100—especially the teen numbers, and review 2 and 3 dimensional shapes. 
On Monday, November 19th a letter to Santa will be coming home for you to complete with your child.  Please return this letter by Tuesday, November 27th.  The letters will be “mailed” at school and taken directly to Santa at the North Pole!  **Please be sure to address the envelope to “SANTA” and include a RETURN ADDRESS.
**We will continue preparing for “Thanksgiving”.  Boys and Girls will get to be Native American Indians for the day on Tuesday, November 20th!   We will make a Thanksgiving bracelet and will also discuss being “thankful”.   Your little “Pilgrim” will be ready with a poem to feast on Turkey Day!! 
 There will be an early dismissal on Wednesday, Nov. 21st @ 12:00.  (There will be NO Breakfast or snack or an encore class) School will be CLOSED Thurs., Nov. 22nd through Mon., Nov. 26th.  School will reopen on Tues., Nov. 27th and it will be Day 8LIBRARY and library books will be needed for exchange.  **Please note the change from the monthly calendar. 
The monthly PBIS reward will be Wednesday, November 21st.  Students will have the memorable opportunity of working with members of the military and veterans from our community to make care packages to send to troops overseas and support wounded military members who are receiving care at Walter Reed Medical Center.  **PLEASE SEND IN ALL ITEMS/DONATIONS BY WEDNESDAY, 11/21. (refer to the list of donations sent home previously)
