Kindergarten News
There
will be NO SCHOOL
on Monday, October 8th, Columbus Day, due to a scheduled
Teacher In-Service day. School will
reopen on Tuesday, October 9th.
We will begin the story Dig, Dig, Digging in Reading.
We will be talking about how machines help people. We will be practicing the sound /t/ for the
letter Tt and the skill classifying
and categorizing. Watch for the new Family Times newsletter and continue to
review the high frequency words; I, am,
the, little, to, and a when you
read together. Practice “camera words”/sight words daily!
For Math, we will begin Unit 6- SHAPES
& SOLIDS. Students will learn and
work with 2D and 3D shapes. **Please
review, sign, and return Unit 1 test.
Oct. 7-13 is Fire Prevention Week so please take some time at home to discuss fire
safety with your child and family. **This year’s campaign is “Look,
Listen, Learn”. Look
for places fire could start. Listen for
the sound of the smoke alarm. Learn two
ways out of every room. Be sure to
have a practice fire drill and create an escape plan with a designated meeting
place and watch for our class
book, Be Cool About Fire Safety to
come home later in the month.
Homecoming
Spirit Week is being held this week (10/8-10/12). Monday is SLEEP
IN DAY! Tuesday is DECADES DAY! Wednesday is CARTOON DAY! (Thursday is FIELD TRIP DAY so Kindergarten
cannot participate in CRUISE SHIP ALL ABOARD DAY) A Spartan
Spirit/Homecoming Pep Rally will be held in the NSE gym on Friday morning 10/12
for all elementary students. Boys and
girls should wear Spartan clothing or Spartan colors to show their school
spirit!!
The
Kindergarten Field Trip will be Thursday, October 11th. Students will visit Rohrbach’s Farm in
Catawissa and take an educational tour of the farm, go on a hayride, pick a
pumpkin, and have time to play in play land!
Students may wear jeans or sweatpants with the field trip shirt (black & green)sent home Tues. 10/2. Please be on time
for school and dress for the weather.
Students do not need any money for the trip.
The
School-wide Book Fair will take place in the NSE Library starting Monday,
October 15th. **Parents will be able to shop with their
child on Monday night (10/15) from 4-7 pm if interested. Mrs. Potts’ class will also be shopping in
school on Monday, Oct. 15th in the afternoon between 2:30-3:10.
**Picture Re-Take Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd for anyone interested! Pictures were sent home on Wednesday,
Oct. 3rd. (Please note all photos need to be returned
for re-take)
The
Kindergarten Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 26th. **Anyone
who has not yet sent in his/her $3.00 please do so ASAP!

The FALL CELEBRATION/ Parade & Party will
be held on Wednesday, 10/31 from 1:30-3:00. (more details will be sent home soon)
Tuesday, October 9th will be Day 10— ART.
Wednesday, October 10th will
be Day 1—COMPUTERS. Thursday, October 11th
will be Day 2-- MUSIC and Friday, October 12th will be Day 3—GUIDANCE.
