Kindergarten News
This week we will be starting our 4th
story for Reading, Miss Bindergarten
Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten. Watch
for your Family Times newsletter to come home on Monday. We will be talking about People in
Communities and will be learning how to classify
and categorize. Continue to read at home and practice the
high frequency words; I,
am, the, and little; practice rhyming and
counting syllables in words and identifying the letters from Aa-Zz.
**Word Lists for
“Camera Words”/ sight words, were not checked
this past week, but will be this week. Be sure to practice!!
September
“AR” Book Buddy recording sheets will be due on Friday, Sept. 28th. Any
student who has read 15 or more books will receive a monthly treat!!
For Math,
we will be continuing with Unit 1:
Numbers 0-10. Be sure to
review daily practice pages. Practice
identifying numbers 0-10, writing numbers, counting objects and/or sets with
one-to-one correspondence, and matching numbers to sets.
Our Science theme for the
week will be APPLES. Students
are asked to bring in an uncut apple (or 2) on Monday, September 24th. **The apple can be any size, color, or
kind. Each day of the week we will use
the apples for sorting, graphing, and/or tasting! It should be a sweet week!!!
Mrs. Diane
Rowland will visit with our class on Thursday, September 27th during
Guidance class. She will be speaking
with the children about Drugs and Alcohol in preparation for the annual Red
Ribbon Week, which will be held in October.
Take some time to ask your child what he/she learned and/or discussed at
school that day!
October is
National Bullying Prevention Month. If
your child wears a BLUE SHIRT on Monday, October 1st to support
bullying prevention in Schuylkill County, then he/she will get a FREE DRESS
DOWN DAY.
The Kindergarten Field Trip to Rohrbach’s
Farm in Catawissa will be Thursday, October 11th. **Permission slips are due by Friday,
September 27th.
The next
Kindergarten Fall Festival meeting will be held on Monday, September 24th
@ 7:00 pm at Francesco’s restaurant (upstairs) in Shenandoah. **The festival will be held on Friday,
October 26th. All volunteers who will be participating at
the Fall Festival MUST have all 4 clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal, FBI
Fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter Training) on file in the office. The
Fall Festival is not a PTO event, so you do not have to be a member of the PTO
to help. **Anyone who has not yet sent in his/her $3.00
donation for the Fall Festival is asked to do so ASAP.
October Scholastic Book Orders
will be due by Thursday, October 4th. (Orders
can be placed online with the classroom code GJXGV or sent to the teacher in an
envelope.)
Monday, September 24th will be Day 10—Art, on our special classes’
schedule. **Students will need sneakers on Friday,
9/28. (Tues. 9/25—Computers,
Wed. 9/26—Music, Thurs. 9/27—Guidance, Fri. 9/28—Physical
Education)
