Week of May 7-11, 2018

Kindergarten News
For Reading we will continue with Unit 6:  Building Our Homes.  The next story will be titled, “Old MacDonald had a Woodshop”.  We will be talking about what tools you need to build things.  We will review the short vowel sounds and review “characters”.   Watch for your Family Times news!  Continue to practice sight words!!!
            For Math, we will finish with Topic 12, Measurement and begin our Step Up to First Grade Math. Take some time and review the daily work mats.
            NSE will be having a Scholastic Book Fair from Mon, May 7-Friday, May 11.  Students will be able to shop at school and there will also be a Parent Shopping Night on Monday, May 7th from 4-7 pm.  **Our class also will have time to shop in school during our Guidance class on Monday, May 7th from 2:10-2:30. Please note that due to a change in PA state laws we will now need to charge tax on all book fair sales, be sure to send in extra for tax!!
            The monthly PTO meeting will be held on Monday, May 7th at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria.  All are invited and encouraged to attend!
**Please note that Friday, May 4th will be the last day the NSE library will be open for students to borrow books.  All library books will need to be returned on our next exchange day—Monday, May 14th. 
            Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm in the NS High School Auditorium.  Specific details about parking, seating, etc. will be sent home closer to the date.  Due to limited seating, each Kindergarten student will be limited to 5 tickets.  **If a small child (non-school age) is going to sit on an adult’s lap, they will not need a ticket.  **Your Kindergarten child is not part of the count.  No one will be admitted to Graduation without a ticket.  Graduation tickets will be sent home on Friday, May 19th.  **If tickets are misplaced, we will not be able to replace them.  SIGN-OUT forms are due by Monday, May 7th if not already completed and returned.
            There will be a Paid PBIS DRESS DOWN, PLUS HAT DAY on Friday, May 11th!  Students can dress down with a Spartan shirt for $1.00 and wear a favorite hat for another $1.00.
            **Monday, May 14th will be the last day for our AR/Book Buddies.  Treats will be given for 8+ books recorded on the monthly recording sheet.  **Thank you for your participation and support!  I am SO proud of how well the boys and girls are reading!!!
Monday, May 7th will be Day 3 –Guidance (and boys and girls will be able to shop the BOOK FAIR) Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, May 8th.
