Kindergarten News

**All library books need to be returned on Monday, May 14^th.  The library is now closed for borrowing new books.

         For Reading we will continue Unit 6 with the story Building Beavers.  We will discuss Main Idea and review the short vowels, focusing on short /e/. 

            For Math we will finish with Topic 12, Measurement and begin a Step-Up to First Grade.  **Topic 12 tests should be reviewed, signed and returned when they come home in RETURN.

            Our Accelerated Reader “Book Buddy” program will END on Monday, 5/14 and May recording sheets will be collected.    Thank you to all the families who faithfully participated!!

            Boys and girls will be tested for their DIBELS Reading test on Wednesday, May 16^th.  Be sure to review and practice:  letter naming, phoneme segmentation and nonsense words!  Each subtest is timed for 1 minute.

            Friday, May 18^th will be a paid Spartan dress down day.  Students can dress in jeans or sweats with a Spartan shirt for $1.

            Kindergarten will practice for graduation on Friday 5/18 (afternoon), Monday 5/21 (afternoon), and possibly, Tuesday 5/22 (morning) at the HS auditorium.  **Please try to have your child at school for these practices so he/she will know what to do for the ceremony on Tuesday 5/22 @ 1:00.  Students may be walking to the HS so please dress your child in shoes for walking.

            Kindergarten graduation information and tickets will be sent home next week.  **Please check your child’s folder each night!!

Tuesday, May 22^nd – Kindergarten Graduation @ 1:00 pm at the NS high school auditorium

Friday, May 25^th – CARNIVAL/FUN DAY

Monday, May 28^th – NO SCHOOL/Memorial Day

Tuesday, June 5^th – Last day of school

Monday, May14^th is Day 8 – Library class.  Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, May 15^th.
