Kindergarten News

**Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, April 3^rd. 

**April Scholastic book orders are due on or before Wednesday, April 4^th for anyone interested in ordering. 

For Reading we will read the story Mayday! Mayday! A Coast Guard Rescue.  It is an informational text and we will be discussing cause and effect.  Watch for your Family Times newsletter!  High frequency words, yellow, green, and blue will be the focus of this story.  Please practice all sight words daily!!  We will discuss what kinds of transportation help us in an emergency.  We will be working with the phonics sound /ks/ spelled with the letter Xx.

In Math, we will continue with Topic 9: Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10.  Students will learn different ways to make 4 through 10 and write number sentences to show these different ways.  Review daily work mats and continue to practice addition and subtraction.  Be sure to review, sign, and return Topic 8 test.

**The March AR “Book Buddy” recording sheets are due on Thursday, March 29^th.  The goal for the month is 15+ books.  

**Thursday, 3/29 is a NON-ROTATION day due to our monthly PBIS reward.  (There will be no special classes that day!)  Students who earned 4 stamps for SPARTy behavior will receive the reward.  **Completed tickets will be sent home this week.

FYI:  Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 26^th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)  Envelopes will be sent home sometime soon with portrait package information. **All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.

Thank you to ALL who have already generously donated to our class’ Chinese Auction basket/bin for the PTO Basket Auction coming up on April 14^th - April 15^th!  Our theme is “A Night with the Family”.  Donations are DUE by April 5^th but Mrs. Potts would like them by Thursday, March 29^th.  So far we have A Groupon Gift Card, a Dairy Queen Gift Card, Guess Who? Game, Connect 4 game, Chutes and Ladders game, Go Fish card game, Crazy 8s card game, and Spot It! game, Smurfs DVD “Legend of Smurfy Hollow”, Build your own wooden cars craft, cake mix, microwave popcorn, and a monetary donation (If a family would rather not shop for a donation, monetary donations will be accepted and Mrs. Potts will shop for items for the basket.) There is no value set and you can be creative!!  **Please refer to the note sent home with suggestions and ideas.  **STUDENTS WHO BRING A DONATION WILL RECEIVE A FREE SPARTAN DRESS DOWN DAY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 6^th. 

Monday, March 26^th is Day 5—Art class, Tuesday, March 27^th will be Day 6—Computers, and Wednesday, March 28^th will be Day 7 Music class.  **Due to the PBIS reward 3/29, and No School 3/30, Library/book exchange will be moved until Monday, April 2^nd.
