Kindergarten News

**Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, April 3^rd. 

**April Scholastic book orders are due on or before Wednesday, April 4^th for anyone interested in ordering. 

                  For Reading we will continue with the next story in Unit 5 Trucks Roll!  It is a non-fiction, rhyming story and we will be talking about forms of transportation.  The comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is compare and contrast and we will work with the initial and medial short vowel sound /u/.  A new Family Times newsletter will be sent home on Monday.  Take time to practice sight word flashcards, especially what, said, and was!!!

            United States’ reports will begin on Tuesday, April 3^rd!  **Check the date on the top of your child’s report pages and be sure to have him/her practice presenting the facts to you at home.  It will be fun to learn about many of our Fifty, Nifty United States!

            In Math, we will continue with Topic 9, Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10.   Practice making numbers 4-10 and continue to review addition and subtraction. Take some time to review daily work mats.  **Be sure to sign, review, and return Topic 8 test.

            New April AR/Book Buddy recording sheets are enclosed in book buddy bags.  The goal for April is 15+ books.  Congrats to all who reached their goal in March.  Pizza Hut tickets are enclosed!

            NSE PTO is selling yearbooks.  The cost of the yearbook is $21.  **Order forms and payment are due no later than Monday, April 16^th.  Cash, checks and money orders are accepted, made payable to NSE PTO.

            Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 26^th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)  Envelopes will be sent home with portrait package information soon. **All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.

**FYI:  Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 22^nd@ 1:00 PM in the high school auditorium

Thank you to ALL who donated to our class’ Chinese Auction basket/bin for the PTO Spring Fling Auction coming up on April 14-April 15.  Our “A Night with the Family” theme is turning out GREAT! We have A Groupon Gift Card, a Dairy Queen Gift Card, Centiole’s Pizza Gift Certificate, Guess Who? Game, Connect 4 game, Chutes and Ladders game, Yahtzee game, Speak Out- Kids vs Parents game, 2 Hedbanz Electronic game, Pie Face game, Traditional deck of cards, Go Fish card game, Crazy 8s card game, UNO card game, and 2 Spot It! games, Smurfs DVD “Legend of Smurfy Hollow”, “Cloudy w/ a Chance of Meatballs” DVD, a Build your own wooden cars craft, Hatchimals 46 pc. Puzzle, cake mix, brownie mix, microwave popcorn, and 2 monetary donations (If a family would rather not shop for a donation, monetary donations will be accepted and Mrs. Potts will shop for items for the basket.) There is no value set and you can be creative!!  **Please refer to the note sent home with suggestions and ideas.  **STUDENTS WHO BRING A DONATION WILL RECEIVE A FREE SPARTAN DRESS DOWN DAY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 6^th.  Donations are DUE ASAP.

Monday, April 2^nd will be Day 8—LIBRARY on the special classes’ schedule. **Students will need library books for exchange on Monday, April 2^nd and sneakers on Tuesday, April 3^rd (If students are dressed for Spring photos, they just need to have sneakers for gym, OR they can bring a change of clothes).
