Kindergarten News

SPRING PHOTOS were sent home on Wednesday, April 11^th.  Returned photos OR payments are due by Wednesday, April 18^th. 

NSE PTO is selling 2017-2018 Yearbooks.  The cost is $21 and orders with payment are due no later than Monday, April 16^th. 

Friday, April 20 will be the monthly Spartan Dress Down Day.  Students can wear jeans or sweats and a Spartan shirt with a paid $1 donation.

In Reading we will start a new story titled, On the Move.   It is an informational text by author Donna Latham.  We will work with the letter sounds /v/ and /z/ and the comprehension skill, main idea.  Watch for your new Family Times newsletter and have your child practice the Words to Read!

In Math, we will finish Topic 10 Composing Numbers 11-19 and will be decomposing numbers 11-19 in Topic 11. Please review daily practice pages!  Continue to practice addition and subtraction and writing number sentences with a plus sign and a minus sign. (Review, sign, and return Topic 10 test when sent in RETURN)

Students in Grades 3-6 will be taking the PSSA tests again next week.  Kindergarten’s schedule will be switched around T-W, 4/17-4/18.  Special classes will be 9:00-9:40 instead of 1:50-2:30. Please talk to your child about being quiet while in the hallways during testing days!!

The 5^th Annual NSE PTO BASKET RAFFLE was held on Sat. April 14^th, 10-5 pm and Sunday, April 15^th   THANK YOU to all who contributed to our class basket “A NIGHT WITH THE FAMILY”.  

The School Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, 4/24 and Wednesday, 4/26 from 4-6 PM in the NSE Gym.

The NSE ART SHOW will be held on Tuesday, 4/24 from 4-6 PM.   Please stop by to check out all the awesome artwork!!!

DIBELS testing for the end-of-the-year will begin in May.  Please review letter naming, segmenting, and nonsense words for Reading and number names, next numbers, and comparing quantities for Math.  The time for each is 1 minute!

Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 26^th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)  **Envelopes were sent home with portrait package information on Tues. 4/10.  If interested in purchasing pictures then please return the money BEFORE Wednesday, April 25^th in your child’s folder.  (checks made payable to PSP.)  **All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.  Girls should not have ponytails high on their heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap

      Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 22^nd at 1:00 pm in the NS High School Auditorium.  Specific details about parking, seating, etc. will be sent home closer to the date.  Due to limited seating, each Kindergarten student will be limited to 5 tickets.  **If a small child (non-school age) is going to sit on an adult’s lap, they will not need a ticket.  **Your Kindergarten child is not part of the count.  No one will be admitted to Graduation without a ticket.  Graduation tickets will be sent home on Friday, May 18^th.  **If tickets are misplaced, we will not be able to replace them. 

      The April Behavior Reward will be “Bounce Houses” on either Thursday, April 26^th or Friday, April 27^th.  Please encourage good behavior all month!!

**Monday, April 16^th will be Day 8 –Library so be sure to pack books for exchange!  Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, April 17^th!
