Kindergarten News
            Toothbrush charts are due back ASAP.   Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a dental health treat from Mrs. Potts!
            The PBIS reward will now be Friday, March 9th due to the snow day on Friday, March 2nd.
            In Reading we will begin an informational text titled, If You Could Go to Antarctica, by author Fay Robinson.  We will work with short and long /e/ sounds and the letter Ee and practice the comprehension skill, classify and categorize.  Check out the new Family Times newsletter in your child’s folder.  Please practice high frequency word cards.
            For Math, we will be working with Topic 8; Understanding Subtraction.  Students will act out and solve subtraction word problems, will use the minus sign to represent take away situations when recording subtraction, will use the equal sign, subtract, and write the difference.  Review practice pages as they come home in the folder. 
            Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools.  It will be starting on Monday, March 5th and continue through Friday, March 9th.  Check for Mrs. Potts’ ad in the CLASSIFIED section of the newspaper.  Ads can be sent to school during the week for treats. (See yellow information sheet enclosed with newsletter.) The completed “I’m a Reader” contracts are to be returned by Monday, March 12th. (See white information sheet enclosed in KEEP)
            The monthly PTO meeting will be held on Monday, March 5th @ 6:30 in the NSE cafeteria.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
            Scholastic book orders for March are due on or by Wednesday, March 7th for anyone interested in ordering.  Orders can be given to the teacher or placed online at scholastic.com. 
            Spring Pictures will be taken at NSE on Friday, March 9th.  ALL Children will be photographed and pictures will be available for purchase in 7-10 days.  PSP provides the school with a donation for every portrait package.  **For best results do not wear green!!!  Students may dress up, but keep dress code in mind!!
            Kindergarten registration for the upcoming, 2017-2018 school year will be held the week of March 12- 16.  Registration is open to all residents of the NS School District.  Please pass along this information to anyone with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall.  Appointments should be scheduled with the office.
            The PTO Spring Fling Chinese Auction will be held on April 14th and 15th.  Our class’ theme basket will be “A Night with the Family”. Donations are due to the teacher by Friday, March 30th.    If a family would rather not shop for a donation, monetary donations will be accepted and Mrs. Potts will shop for items for the basket.  There is no value set and you can be creative!!  You can refer to the note sent home previously with suggestions and ideas!!  Thank you in advance for your support!!             Boys and girls are enjoying our celebration of Dr. Seuss.  Students from Bloomsburg University will be visiting Friday 3/9 to read Theres a Wocket in my Pocket and complete a follow-up activity.  **Please note the change due to the snow day, Friday 3/2.  Be sure to ask your child about the stories and activities.  Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!! Monday (3/5/16) will be DAY 3Guidance on the special classes’ schedule—due to the snow day Friday, 3/2.  **Boys and girls will need gym attire and sneakers on Tuesday, March 6th.  Library books will not be due for exchange until Monday, March 12th.
