Kindergarten News
For Reading this week we
will read the story, The Lion and the
Mouse. We will introduce the comprehension skill, main idea. We will review
the short /o/ sound in words and continue to work with the high frequency
words; they, of, and you.
Be sure to practice sight word
flashcards often and watch for the new Family
Times news!
Just a reminder: January AR “Book Buddy” recording sheets will
be due on Wednesday, January 31st. The goal for the month is 15 books. Any student who reads and records 15 or more
books will receive a Pizza Hut reward coupon and a treat. Happy Reading!!
In Math, we will begin Topic 5; Numbers to 20. Continue to practice counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s and writing numbers to 20. Take some time to review daily practice
pages!
Hip, Hip, Hooray! Our 100th
day is just nine school days away!!!
On
Thursday, February 1st students are asked to dress as if they were
100 years old! **Please note that
if school is cancelled, the 100th day will be moved to the next day. (Please
watch for a 100th day newsletter enclosed in your child’s folder
next week!)
NSE PTO SPARTAN FUN RUN FUNDRAISER IS HERE! A glow
fun run will be held in the NSE gym on Friday, January 26th (Please note the change in date) and Students will need to wear the blue NS
field trip T-shirt that was given to them earlier in the school year by the PTO. The program kicked-off with a pep rally on
Thursday, January 18th.
Family and friends can support our students by pledging for every lap
your child runs (30-35). Students will also experience an amazing character
theme, Castle Quest. **You can help NSE PTO by registering on
funrun.com by searching our school name. Thank you in advance for all your support!
The Valentine’s
Day party will be held on Friday, February 9th from 2:00-3:00. **A Valentine’s Class List will be sent home
to help you prepare valentines for the party.

Monday, January 22nd will be
Day 9—Gym Class. **Boys and girls will
need sneakers and gym attire on Monday, 1/22.
