Week of January 15-19, 2018

Kindergarten News

School will be OPEN for students on Monday, January 15^th due to a snow make-up day (Friday, January 5^th), and lunch will be Macaroni and Cheese.

For Reading we will continue with Unit 3 and the story Then and Now.  It is a nonfiction book and we will talk about the comprehension strategy “draw conclusions”.  We will also work with the initial and medial short /o/ sound and the letter Oo.   Watch for your new Family Times news and practice new high frequency sight words; you, of, and they!

In Math, we will be finishing Topic 4- Comparing and Ordering numbers 0-10.  Be sure to review daily practice pages and continue to practice counting to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s and write numbers 0-20.

Tuesday, January 16^th will be our 90^th day of school and we will be halfway through Kindergarten! WOW!  We will celebrate for the 100^th day tentatively on January 30^th.   More details will be coming home closer to the date. 

NSE PTO SPARTAN FUN RUN FUNDRAISER IS COMING!  A glow fun run will be held in the NSE gym on January 25^th.  The 8-day program will kick off with a pep rally on Tuesday, January 16^th.  Once the program begins, family and friends can support our students by pledging for every lap your child runs (30-35). Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Castle Quest.  Watch for pledge sheets and collection envelopes to come home with your child soon. **You can help NSE PTO by registering on funrun.com by searching our school name.  Thank you in advance for all your support!

January Scholastic Book Orders will be due on Thurs. 1/18 for anyone interested in ordering.

**All staff and students can wear a Spartan shirt with jeans or sweatpants with a $1 donation on Friday, January 19^th for the monthly Dress Down Day. 

Monday, January 15^th will be Day 6—Computers.  **Students will need LIBRARY BOOKS on Wednesday, January 17^th and sneakers and gym attire on Thursday, January 18^th.
