Kindergarten News
**The Book Fair ended Friday,
10/20. Thank you to ALL the parent
volunteers who helped at the fair, and thank you to all who purchased books too. Happy reading!
**The Kindergarten Field Trip was a
huge success. The weather was
perfect and everyone had a fantastic, fun, fall day! THANK YOU to the PTO and all the CHAPERONES for making the
day possible. :)
**This week we will be reviewing letter Aa and its two sounds,
short /a/ as in cat and long /a/ as in acorn, and learning the consonant letter
Ss
as in sun, snake, and Saturday.
Please continue to review all the letters we have learned so far.
**In Reading we will begin to read the story Nature Spy. We will be looking at what we can learn about nature when we
look closely. We will focus on learning the
comprehension skill setting and
practice the learned high frequency words. Watch for your new Family Times newsletter to be sent home! **Continue
to practice sight word flashcards/camera words daily!!
**For Math we will finish up with Topic 16: Analyzing,
Comparing, and Composing Shapes, so review solid 3D shapes. Be
sure to review, sign, and return Topic 16 Test when it comes home. Our next topic will be Topic 1: One
to Five.
**Red Ribbon
Week campaign is set for October 23-31, 2017. The theme is “Your Future is Key, So
Stay Drug Free!” – Check out the week’s scheduled dress days on your October
calendars (Mon. 10/23—wear superhero shirt; Tues. 10/24—wear crazy socks; Wed.
10/25—wear school spirit shirt; Thurs. 10/26—wear favorite team shirt; Friday
10/27—wear jeans; Mon. 10/30—wear pajamas; Tues. 10/31—wear red.)
**Friday, October 27th
will be the school-wide Halloween parade/party. The parade will begin at 2:00
pm with the Kindergarten students and end with 6th grade. Students will parade in front of the
HOME side bleachers at the HS stadium, weather permitting. ALL
are welcome to come to see the children parade. (**Please refer to the “orange” parade
note sent home Tues. 10/17) Your
child should NOT wear his/her costume to school! Please send the costume to school in a bag with your
child’s name on the outside.
Students will get dressed in costumes in the classroom. Keep in mind students will be dressing
at school, so keep the costumes as simple as possible. (No spraying hair at school, or a face
full of make-up at school) Parents are
welcome to come and watch the parade at the HS Stadium!! Be sure to be there
early as Kindergarten will be first!!

PTO CENTIOLE’s
FUNDRAISER CARDS will be sent home on Monday, 10/23in your child’s folder. **There
will be NO PICK-UP at school.

We are
currently collecting money for the classroom parties. If you have NOT yet sent
in the party money, then please send in $5.00 in an envelope with your child’s
name and classroom and mark “Party Money” on the outside of the envelope. Thank you!
Monday, October
23rd will be Day 8—Library, and students will need library
books for exchange. **Gym
class will be Tuesday, October 24th so be sure wear sneakers and gym
attire!
