Week of February 16-20, 2015

Kindergarten News

 **For Reading we will begin Unit 4: Let’s Go Exploring.  The first story is Rooster’s Off to See the World by Eric Carle.  It is an animal fantasy and we will be reviewing the comprehension skill, sequence.  We will work with initial /h/ sound for the letter Hh.  Review high frequency sight words daily!

**In Math we will finish Topic 6: Numbers to 100.   Please practice counting to 100 by 1’s and 10’s and recognizing patterns on a hundred square.

**Scholastic book orders for the month of February are due on Wednesday, February 18th for anyone interested in ordering. 

**There will be NO School for students on Friday, February 13th due to a scheduled ACT 80 day, and Monday, February 16th -- Presidents' Day.

**Toothbrush charts will be due back at the start of March.  Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a “dental health” treat from Mrs. Potts.  Remember to continue to eat healthy foods, brush and floss your teeth, and visit a dentist at least once a year to keep your smile looking great!

**The 2nd annual NSE Chinese auction will be held at NSE this year on Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th.  You may "Shop and Drop" from 10:30-5:00 on Saturday, and on Sunday April 12th you can do the same from 12:00-3:00.  The auction will start promptly at 3:00.  Every student will receive a free sheet of tickets if they attend the auction.  Donations of prizes are greatly appreciated!!  For more information "like" North Schuylkill Elementary Spring Fling Chinese AUction on Facebook or contact Alex Trexler (alexandra_fedeles@yahoo.com.)  Information about a "class basket" will be sent home soon.  Watch your child's folder in the upcoming week(s)!

**Thank you to the homeroom moms for helping with the Valentine’s Day classroom party!  Students had a LOVE-ly time.  It was SWEET of you to volunteer! XOXO

Tuesday, February 17th will be Day 4 – Art.   Boys and girls will need sneakers and gym attire on Wednesday, February 18th.
(Remember if school is cancelled due to inclement weather the special class schedule is bumped to the next school day.)
