Kindergarten
News
This week we will
be learning the consonant letter Bb
as in boys and balloon. Start
looking for your Show and Tell for the letter Bb. We will follow
the schedule. **Word
List 8 will be tested on either Thursday, January 9th or Friday,
January 10th. Practice daily.
For
Reading we will continue with Unit 3; Watch Me Change. The next story will be Little Quack by Lauren Thompson. It will be an animal fantasy story. The skill plot, or the “what happens
part of the story”, will be introduced. Watch for your new Family Times newsletter and practice high
frequency sight word flash cards!!!
In
Math we will work on Topic 6; Numbers to
100. Take some time to review
skills and daily practice pages with your child.
The second marking period will be ending
on Thursday, January 17th and we will begin testing this week. Students will be asked to identify and
write numbers 0-20, count to 100, identify capital and lowercase letters
learned and identify their sounds, read high frequency sight words, blend 2,3,
& 4 letter words, identify parts of a book and the roles of the author and
illustrator. Please take some time
at home to review these skills and concepts.
Since
we are soon half way through Kindergarten, the teachers are asking that each
student practice tying his/her shoes.
This is a skill that we would like to see your child master before first
grade. Remember, Practice Makes Perfect!
DIBELS
testing will held over the next few weeks. Kindergarten is
tentatively scheduled for late this week. Be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep!
Scholastic
book orders for January will be due by Tuesday, January 14th for
anyone interested in ordering this month! **Don’t
forget about the coupon from your teacher that was enclosed in Mrs. Potts’
Christmas gift bag!!!
Monday,
January 6th will be Day 1 on the special classes’ schedule. Students will need library books on Thursday,
January 9th.
