Week of December 2-6, 2013

Kindergarten News
·      In Phonics next week we will be learning the letter Ff and its sound as in fish and feather.  Start looking for Show and Tell for the letter Ff and follow your classroom schedule.  We will start with the Tuesday show and tell students!  **Word List 5 will be tested on Thursday, 12/5 or Friday, 12/6.  Practice daily!!!

·      We do not have school on Monday, December 2nd.  School will reopen on Tuesday, December 3rd.  Tuesday will be Day 4 for special classes.  Wednesday, 12/4 will be a NO ROTATION day due to choral rehearsals for the concert on Thursday, 12/5.  Thursday, 12/ 5 will be gym class, but boys and girls DO NOT need gym attire due to the holiday concert.  Boys and girls are to dress-up for the concert and Mrs. Smith will come to the classroom instead of hold gym in the gymnasium.

·      In Math we will begin Topic 5; Numbers to 20.  Students will be learning to identify, write, and count numbers to 20.  Please review daily practice pages!

·      In Reading we will begin the story, Whose Garden Is It? by Mary Ann Hoberman.  It will be a rhyming story about gardens and plants.  We will be discussing more with realism and fantasy.  Keep practicing high frequency words. 

·      On Tuesday, November 26th, a letter to Santa will be coming home for you to complete with your child.  Please return this letter by Tuesday, December 3rd.  A postman will be visiting sometime early in December to pick up the letters at school and take them directly to Santa at the North Pole!  **Please be sure to address the envelope to SANTA and include a return address!

·      The Kindergarten through 2nd grade Holiday Music Program will be held in the High School Auditorium on Thursday, December 5th beginning promptly at 9:30 am.  Parents, grandparents, and all are invited!!!

Happy Birthdays to Grace Devaney and Marla Harper!  Both girls celebrated their 6th birthday last week.  Grace’s birthday was Wednesday, November 27th and Marla’s birthday was Saturday, November 30th!
