Kindergarten News

In Phonics we will be learning the long vowel rule for a vowel consonant silent e pattern as in the words hose and kite. We refer to the silent e as a “sneaky e” which makes the vowel says its name. Please take some time to review long vowel sounds. **There will be NO Show & Tell.

For Reading we will begin the story Messenger, Messenger by Robert Burleigh. It is a rhyming story and we will be talking about transportation jobs. The comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is compare and contrast and the phonics skill will be the short /u/ sound. A new Family Times newsletter will be sent home on Monday.

We will be reviewing for Math and will begin testing for the 4th marking period. Take some time to review addition and subtraction, patterning, telling time to the hour, and money identification and values (penny, nickel, and dime).
