Kindergarten News

**This week we will be learning about the consonant letter Yy and its sound as in yarn and yellow. Please continue practicing writing and identifying all the letters we have learned so far. We will be having Show and Tell and may even have a yogurt taste test. Yum! Yum!

**For Reading we will continue with the book “farfallina and marcel” and then introduce the new book “Seeds” by Ken Robbins. It is an informational text about how plants grow and change. We will practice the comprehension skill; draw conclusions and will review the /o/ sound in words.

**In Math we will finish working on Chapter 8; Money and Time. Students will be identifying the coins penny, nickel, and dime and the values of each, and telling time to the hour and using a calendar. The chapter test is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th. Please continue to practice counting to 100 and review skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.

**Thank you to all PTO homeroom helpers for helping with the Valentine’s Day classroom party on Friday, Feb. 19th. Students had a LOVEly time. It was SWEET of you to volunteer! XOXO

**Newspaper in Education Week will be coming up the first week in March. Please look for papers next week explaining the planned activities.

**Don’t forget to brush and floss your teeth at least 2 times a day! Your smile is counting on you!!!
