There will be NO School for students on Monday, October 12 (Columbus Day) and Tuesday, October 13 due to Teacher In Service and an ACT 80 day. School will reopen on Wednesday.

Wednesday will be Day 6 on the school rotation schedule. Boys and girls will need their library books for exchange. **Please send them to school in the bag provided.

Due to the short school week we will not start a new Phonics lesson next week. We will review all letters learned. (l, o, g, h, & t) Please take some time to review at home too!

We will finish the story Julius in Reading. Continue to read at home and practice the high frequency words I, am, the, little, to, a, of, and from; practice rhyming and counting syllables in words.

We will be starting Math Chapter 3: Numbers 0-5. Take some time to review the concepts of MORE, FEWER, and EQUAL and practice counting objects with sets of 0-5 with your child at home.

Thursday, October 15th will be the Kindergarten Fall Festival. Any parents or grandparents who have clearances on file in the office are invited to help. All activities will be outside (weather permitting), so please check the weather and dress your child accordingly. Please NO SHORTS and send a jacket as needed! Boys and girls are allowed to dress down (even jeans!). Sneakers are highly suggested! The dress code does NOT need to be followed for the Fall Festival day. The Fall Festival is planned for the morning and afternoon with breaks for lunch, recess, and special classes. Students will also get to spend the morning with their new 4th grade Reading Buddies!

Thursday, October 15th will also be Picture Retake Day! Anyone interested in picture retakes should dress for photos (school dress code). **Keep in mind students shirts must be to code since pictures will be in the school yearbook! (Students can change for Fall Festival as needed!) Picture envelopes will be enclosed in student folders for those who were absent on the original picture day. Money is due at the time of photos.

Anyone who has not yet turned in Fall Festival and Party money is asked to try and send it in as soon as possible. The parents who are planning the Fall Festival and Halloween party will need to shop for supplies and goodies. Thank you for your cooperation.

On Friday, October 16th there will be a BRAINSHOWMANIA Assembly in the gym for all students K-6. Be sure to ask your child all about it!!!
