Congratulations
to ALL the students who earned their fourth and final DRESS DOWN day for
our PBIS behavior plan. They have shown
they can follow the rules and show TEAM WORK.
This month students will work towards a monthly reward for October by
earning a stamp for the letters S-P-AR-T-Y!
Details will be sent home later!!
Students borrowed their first school library books on Friday, Oct. 6th. The books will be exchanged on the next Day 8
of the Special Classes’ rotation schedule, Oct. 23rd. **Library
books should NOT be kept in your child’s AR/Book Buddy bag. However,
any library books read may be recorded on the monthly Book Buddy recording
sheet! HAPPY READING!
We will
begin the story Dig, Dig, Digging in
Reading. We will be talking about how
machines help people. We will be
practicing the sound /t/ for the letter Tt
and the skill classifying and categorizing.
Watch for the new Family Times
newsletter and continue to review the high frequency words; I, am, the, little, to, and a when you read together. Practice
“camera words”/sight words daily!
For Math, we will finish Topic 15: Position and Location of Shapes
and begin Topic 16: Analyzing, Comparing, and Composing Shapes.
Be sure to review the daily practice pages that your child brings home in
his/her folder and review 2 and 3 dimensional shapes circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon, cube, cylinder, cone,
and sphere. **Topic
15 Test will come during the week.
Please review, sign, and return!
Oct. 8-16 is Fire Prevention Week so please take some time
at home to discuss fire safety with your child and family. Be sure to have a practice fire
drill and create an escape plan with a designated meeting place and watch
for our class book, Be Cool About Fire
Safety.
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday,
October 9th, Columbus Day, due to a scheduled Teacher
In-Service day. School will reopen on Tuesday, October 10th. Wednesday,
October 11th will be our monthly 2 Hour Data Delay Day. **Please
note that Data Delay days are now
ROTATION days for special classes.

Re-Take Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 12th for anyone
interested!
A Spartan Spirit/Homecoming Pep Rally will be held
in the NSE gym on Friday morning 10/13 for all elementary students. Boys and girls should wear Spartan clothing
or Spartan colors to show their school spirit!! Check out the SPARTAN SPIRIT WEEK paper sent home on Fri. 10/6 and show your school spirit this week!!
Diane
Rowland, will visit with our class on Monday, October 16th. She will be speaking with the children about
Drugs and Alcohol in preparation for the annual Red Ribbon Week, which will be
held the last week of October. Take some
time to ask your child what he/she learned and/or discussed at school that day!
The
School-wide Book Fair will take place in the NSE Library starting Monday,
October 16th. **Parents will be able to shop with their
child on Monday night (10/16) from 4-7 pm if interested. Mrs. Potts’ class will also be shopping in
school on Monday, Oct. 16th in the morning between 9:00-9:40.
We
will begin collecting money on Tuesday, October 10th for the year’s
classroom parties. **A note was sent home on Friday, Oct. 6th in your
child’s RETURN side of his/her folder.
The Kindergarten Field Trip will be
Friday, October 20th. Students
will visit Rohrbach’s Farm in Catawissa and take an educational tour of the
farm, go on a hayride, pick a pumpkin, and have time to play in play land! Students may wear jeans or sweatpants with
the field trip shirt (coming soon).
Please be on time for school and dress for the weather. Students do not need any money for the trip.
