For Reading we will continue
with the next story in Unit 5 Trucks
Roll! It is a non-fiction, rhyming
story and we will be talking about forms of transportation. The comprehension skill we will focus on with
this story is compare and contrast and
we will work with the initial and medial short vowel sound /u/. A new Family
Times newsletter will be sent home on Monday. Take time to practice sight word
flashcards, especially what, said, and was!!!
United States’ reports will begin on
Tuesday, April 4th! **Check the date on the top of your child’s
report pages and be sure to have him/her practice presenting the facts to you
at home. It will be fun to learn
about many of our Nifty, Fifty United States!
In Math, we will begin Topic 10, Composing Numbers 11-19. Practice
making numbers 11-19 and continue to review addition and subtraction. Take some
time to review daily work mats. **Be sure to sign, review, and return Topic 9
test when it comes home.
The April PTO meeting will be held on Monday, April 3rd and it
will start @ 6:30. All are invited and
encouraged to attend!!
Students in Grades 3-6 will be
taking the PSSA tests next week.
Kindergarten’s schedule will be switched around T-F, 4/4-4/7. Special classes will be 9:00-9:45 instead of
2:00-2:45. Please talk to your child
about being quiet while in the hallways during testing days!!
Kindergarten
Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 20th. (There
will be NO make-up picture day.) Envelopes will be sent home with portrait
package information next week. If
interested in purchasing pictures then please
return the money BEFORE Wednesday, April 19th in your
child’s folder. (Cash or checks made
payable to PSP.) **All students will be photographed for the class photo and will
need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown. Girls should not have ponytails high on their
heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap

Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd @ 1:00 PM in the high
school auditorium
Thank you to ALL who generously
donated to our class’ Chinese Auction basket/bin for the PTO Spring Fling
Auction coming up on April 8-April 9.
Our “A Night with the Family” theme is turning out GREAT! (A list
of items included in our basket/bin will be sent home soon.) Be sure
to take a chance or more on winning it!
Remember, the Kindergarten class with the most tickets gets an Ice Cream
Party!!!
The last round of DIBELS testing
will begin in a few weeks. Students
will be tested on many of the same skills as they were at the mid-year
testing. Review blending sounds to read nonsense words and break words apart
into the individual sounds, or phonemes and practice naming letters. Try to improve speed and accuracy for a 1-minute
time for each skill. **Practice pages will be sent home for
practice.
Monday, April 3rd
will be Day 3—ART class on the special classes’ schedule. **Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, April 4th
for gym class and library books for exchange on Friday, April 7th.
