Kindergarten News
School will be CLOSED for students on Monday, January
16th—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Teachers have a full day IN-SERVICE scheduled.
For Reading we will continue with Unit 3 and the story
Then and Now. It is a nonfiction book and we will talk about
the comprehension strategy “draw conclusions”.
We will also work with the initial and medial short /o/ sound and the
letter Oo. Watch for your new Family Times news and practice new high frequency sight words; you,
of,
and they!
In Math, we will be beginning Topic 6: Numbers to 100. Review counting, reading, and writing numbers
0-20 and ordering numbers forward and backward.
Also, practice counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s to 100. **Be
sure to review, sign, and return Topic 5 Test when it comes home.
Wednesday, January 18th (weather permitting) will be our 90th
day of school and we will be halfway through Kindergarten! WOW! We
will celebrate for the 100th day tentatively
on Feb. 1st. More details will be coming home closer to
the date.
Just a reminder:
