Kindergarten News
**In
Reading we will begin the new story A Bed for the Winter by Karen
Wallace. It will be an
informational text. We will
discuss Fiction and Non-Fiction, winter homes, and work on the comprehension
skill, sequence. We will be working on the short /i/
sound as in inch, igloo, and iguana.
Watch for the new Family Times
and Phonics Reader to be sent home.
Continue to practice the high frequency words.
**In
Math we will be finishing up Topic 3:
Numbers 6-10 and will begin Topic 4: Comparing and Ordering numbers to 10. Students should be practicing writing numbers
from 0-10 and making numbers in different ways. Take some time at home to review the daily practice pages
completed at school. Please review, sign, and return Topic 3 test
when it is enclosed in RETURN.
**Scholastic
book orders for this month are due by Monday, November 14th for
anyone interested in ordering.
Orders can be placed online at scholastic.com or can be sent to school
with your child! (Make note if any orders are gifts for
Christmas!)
**Ms. Clarissa Geary, Director
of Education, Training and Volunteer Services for SARCC, will be presenting a Personal Body Safety Program to the
class on Wednesday, November 16th. This message encourages healthy
decision-making and communication.
Should you wish to EXCLUDE your child from participating, then please
indicate that with a note to the school office.
**St. Clair Taco Bell invites you to come in and support NSE’s
Accelerated Reading Program on Fundraiser Day, Thursday, Nov. 17th
from 5-8 PM. 15% of your purchase will be donated
to NSE. Just give your ticket
(that was sent home on Thurs. 11/10) to the cashier at checkout.
**Friday, 11/18, is our
school-wide dress down day. **Participating
students are to bring a $1.00 donation! Thank you in advance for your participation. J
**We
will begin preparing for “Thanksgiving”.
During the next two weeks students will learn about the first
Thanksgiving, will make pilgrim and Native American/Indian costumes, and will
begin to learn a poem or song for the holiday. We will make a Thanksgiving bracelet and will also discuss
being “thankful”. The students
will even get to use a Native American name for a day!
**On Tuesday, November 22nd, a letter to
Santa will be coming home for you to complete with your child. Please return this letter by Tuesday,
November 29th. The letters will be picked up at school on Friday,
December 2nd and taken directly to Santa at the North Pole! **Please be sure to address the envelope
to SANTA and include a return address!
**The
Kindergarten Field trip to see the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble will be on
Thursday, December 1st.
Students are asked to wear a polo shirt and dress code approved bottoms
or better! This means that students may wear Christmas dresses, suits, etc… (Even
if they aren’t dress code appropriate). Please remember that we are going to the theatre and we will
be representing NS. Students
should NOT wear gym clothes on the field trip!! We will be leaving the school PROMPTLY at 9 AM and returning
at approximately 12:30 PM. Please
make sure your child is on time for school! We will be eating a regular school lunch after our field
trip. Please plan your child’s
lunch as you normally do.
FYI: The NS Student Council is sponsoring the Feed-a-Friend
campaign in our school district.
The campaign kicked off during Homecoming Sprit Week and will continue
until Wed. November 16th.
We are collecting both non-perishable food and monetary donations to help
less fortunate people in Schuylkill County enjoy a holiday dinner. Student council representatives will be
taking our donations to the Salvation Army in Pottsville on Thurs. 11/17.
Monday, November 14th will be Day 1
on the special classes’ schedule.
We will have Library on Tuesday, 11/15, so don’t forget library books for exchange! Boys
and Girls will need sneakers and gym attire on Thursday, November 17th
for Day 4-gym class.
