Week of October 10-14, 2016

Kindergarten News
We will begin the story Dig, Dig, Digging in Reading.  We will be talking about how machines help people.  We will be practicing the sound /t/ for the letter Tt and the skill classifying and categorizing.  Watch for the new Family Times newsletter and continue to review the high frequency words; I, am, the, little, to, and a when you read together. Practice “camera words”/sight words daily!

For Math we will finish Topic 16 and begin Topic 1:  One to Five.  Students will learn how to read, write, and count numbers from 1-5.  Be sure to review the daily practice pages that your child brings home in his/her folder! **Topic 16 Test will come during the week.  Please review, sign, and return!

Oct. 9-15 is Fire Prevention Week so please take some time at home to discuss fire safety with your child and family.  Be sure to have a practice fire drill and create an escape plan with a designated meeting place and watch for our class book, Be Cool About Fire Safety.
