In Reading we will finish with the classic
fairytale, Goldilocks and the Three
Bears by Valeri Gorbachev and will begin an informational text titled If You Could Go to Antarctica, by author
Fay Robinson. We will work with
short and long /e/ sounds and the letter
Ee and practice the comprehension skill, classify and categorize.
Please practice high frequency word cards. We will be adding the new cards, here, go, and from this
week.
For
Math we will finish with Topic 8; Understanding Subtraction and move on
to Topic 9 – Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10. Students will learn different ways to make 4 through 10 and
write number sentences to show these different ways. Students will act out and solve subtraction word
problems, will use the minus sign to represent take away situations when
recording subtraction, will use the equal sign, subtract, and write the
difference. Review practice pages
as they come home in the folder.
Newspaper in Education Week is a
program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest
in the newspaper in our schools.
It will be starting on Monday, March 7th and continue through
Friday, March 11th.
Check for Mrs. Potts’ ad in the CLASSIFIED section of the
newspaper. Ads can be sent to
school during the week for treats.
The I’m a Reader forms, for those who participate, should be
returned t the teacher by the following Tuesday (March 15) with a parent’s
signature and initial for each day of the week.
Scholastic
book orders for March are due on or by Tuesday, March 8th for
anyone interested in ordering.
Orders can be given to the teacher or placed online at
scholastic.com.
Kindergarten registration for the upcoming,
2016-2017 school year will be held the week of March 14- 18. Registration is open to all residents
of the NS School District. Please pass along this information to anyone
with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall. Appointments should be scheduled with
the office.
The PTO Spring Fling Chinese Auction will
be held on April 16th and 17th. Our
class’ theme basket will be “A Night With the Family”. Donations are due to the
teacher by Friday, April 1st. If a family would rather not shop for a
donation, monetary donations will be accepted and Mrs. Potts will shop for
items for the basket. There is
no value set and you can be creative!! You can refer to the note sent home previously with
suggestions and ideas!! Thank you
in advance for your support!!
Boys
and girls enjoyed our celebration of Dr. Seuss this week. Students from Bloomsburg University,
Mrs. Selgrade’s 3rd grade class, our 4th grade Reading
Buddies, Mrs. Tarantelli, Mrs. Bernosky (retired Kindergarten teacher), and
Mrs. Christina Hale (parent and magisterial district judge) visited to read
stories and complete Dr. Seuss activities. Be sure to ask your child about the stories and activities
our guests shared with the class. Hats

6--Computers on the special
classes’ schedule. **Boys and girls will need gym attire and
sneakers on Thursday, March 10th.
