Week of February 15-19, 2016

Kindergarten News  

~There will be NO SCHOOL for students and teachers on Monday, February 15^th due to President’s Day.  School will reopen on Tuesday, February 16^th!

~PTO Yearbook class and activities’ photos have been rescheduled for the AM on Tuesday, February 16^th.  **If you haven’t already returned your child’s activities’ yearbook picture form, please do so as soon as possible.

~For Reading we will read the story, My Lucky Day, by Keiko Kasza.  It is an animal fantasy (fiction) story and we will focus on the comprehension skill cause and effect.  We will review the /l/ sound and connect it with the letter Ll.  Watch for your new Family Times newsletter!  **Also, don’t forget to practice your high frequency sight word flashcards!!

~In Math we will finish Topic 7: Understanding Addition.  Review vocabulary; number story, join, plus sign, and addition sentence.  Continue to practice joining sets and counting how many altogether.  Next we will be working on Topic 8 –Understanding Subtraction.  **Be sure to review, sign, and return Topic 7 Test when it is sent home in your child’s RETURN side of his/her folder.

~Toothbrush charts will be due back at the start of March.  Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a “dental health” treat from Mrs. Potts.  Remember to continue to eat healthy foods, brush and floss your teeth, and visit a dentist at least once a year to keep your smile looking great! 

~The 3^rd annual NSE Chinese auction will be held at NSE this year on Saturday, April  16^th and Sunday, April 17^th.   **Every student will receive a free sheet of tickets if they attend the auction.  Donations of prizes are greatly appreciated!! Tuesday, February 16^th will be Day 3—Art, on the special classes’ schedule.  Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Wednesday, February 17^th. (Remember if school is cancelled due to inclement weather the special class schedule is bumped to the next school day.)
