Week of January 11-15, 2016

Kindergarten News
We will be starting the next story farfallina and marcel for Reading.  In this book we will talk about the comprehension strategy “plot” and how friendships are formed and can change.  We will also be learning the letter Ff.   Watch for your new Family Times news!
In Math we will be continuing Topic 5; Numbers to 20.  Practice counting, reading, and writing numbers to 20 and take some time to review daily practice pages!   Please review, sign, and return Topic 4 Test.
January Scholastic book orders are due by Thursday, January 14th for anyone interested in ordering this month.
The 3rd marking period will begin on Jan. 21st.  Report cards for the 2nd marking period will be sent home on Friday, 1/22.   **Only the yellow report card envelope needs to be SIGNED and RETURNED.  The report cards are for you to keep!   If you have any questions and/or concerns please contact the teacher @ 570-874-3661, Ext. 3245 or apotts@northschuylkill.net.
Since we are soon half way through Kindergarten, the teachers are asking that each student practice tying his/her shoes.  This is a skill that we would like to see your child master before first grade.  Remember, Practice Makes Perfect!
School will be CLOSED for Students on Monday, January 18th for Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.  **Teachers have a full day In-Service scheduled.
Congratulations to all students who successfully completed their dinosaur reports!  It was a fun and educational way to learn about some of the dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago.  **Thank you to all the parents who helped “prepare” the children for their first oral report. (Our next oral report will be with the letter Uu for United States.)

Monday, January 11th will be Day 2.  Students will need library books for exchange on Monday.  Gym class will be Wednesday, January 13th so wear sneakers and gym attire!
