Week of November 9-13, 2015

Kindergarten News
**This week we will read the story Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman in Reading.  We will be discussing hibernation and will learn to differentiate between real and make believe. Watch for the new Family Times newsletter and phonics story to be sent home.  Practice high frequency sight word flash cards daily and phonics letter tiles on Wednesdays!!

**In Math we will continue working with Topic 2, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-5.  Take some time to review the daily practice pages and try to practice these skills at home with your child.  Also continue to practice counting by 1’s to 100.

**Report cards were sent home on Friday, November 6th.  Please sign and return the yellow envelope!

**Parent/teacher conferences will be held on Monday, November 9th.  Please check your scheduled time and be prompt.  Conferences will be held every 15 minutes and Mrs. Potts’ schedule is filled!   If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Potts.   apotts@northschuylkill.net or 874-3661, Ext. 3245. **Scholastic book orders for this month are due by Wednesday, Nov. 11th for anyone interested in ordering.  Orders can be placed online at scholastic.com or can be sent to school with your child!  **Make note if any orders are gifts for Christmas!

** The 2nd Annual Coat, Hat, Scarf & Glove Drive and Give Away will begin with donations being accepted from Monday, November 2nd through Friday, December 4th, and the Give-A-Way on either Thursday, December 10th; 4-7 pm and/or Saturday, December 12th; 10am-2 pm.  Help Keep Our Community Warmer This Winter!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         
**November Dress Down Days;  “Supporting our Troops”, Thursday, November 12thJeans Day, “Wear Jeans for Lyla”, Friday, November 13thJeans and field trip shirt, and “National Diabetes Awareness”, Tuesday, November 24thSweatpants Day.  **Students are asked to donate a $1 each of these days to raise money for these great causes.  Your contribution is greatly appreciated!

** The Kindergarten Field Trip is scheduled for Friday, November 13th to the Pearl Movie Theatre to see “The Peanuts Movie”.  Students need to wear their NSE T-shirt.  Students will receive a McDonald’s Happy Meal during the movie.  Students do not need any money and the field trip will be held during regular school hours, so be on time to school! 

 Thank you again to all of the parent volunteers who helped with the Fall Festival and Halloween parade & party and thank you in advance to the parents helping with the Field Trip scheduled for Friday 11/13! 

**NSE Picture Make-up/Re-take day will be held on Wednesday, November 18th.  Please make sure if your child is having picture retakes to send his/her first package of pictures with him/her that day.  Questions regarding picture packages, contact PSP at 1-800-248-6394.

Tuesday, November 10th is Day 3 – Art.  Be sure to wear sneakers and gym attire on Wednesday, November 11th.  (Library books will not be exchanged until Day 2—Monday, November 16th.)
