Kindergarten News
This
week we will be reading the story Mayday! Mayday! A Coast Guard Rescue. We will discuss what kinds of transportation help us in an
emergency. We will be
working with the phonics sound /ks/ spelled with the letter Xx. We will review the comprehension skill Cause and Effect and the amazing words yellow, blue, and green. Watch for your
Family Times News and practice high frequency sight word flashcards daily!
For
Math we will finish Topic 9 Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10. Review daily practice pages and sign
and return topic test later in the week.
Topic 10 will take composing numbers further from 11-19. Continue practice with addition and
subtraction too!
We
have begun Chapter 3 for Science and have been identifying living and nonliving
things and what plants and animals NEED.
Take some time at home to discuss what your child has learned!
Students in Grades 3-6 will be taking the PSSA tests
throughout the next 3 weeks. Kindergarten’s
schedule will be switched around. There will be
an April calendar in your child’s KEEP noting the days there will be NON
ROTATION DAYS/NO SPECIAL CLASSES (T-Th 4/14-4/16, T-Th 4/21-4/23, and T-W
4/28-4/29). Please talk to your child about being quiet while in the hallways
during testing days!!
Anyone who has not yet signed and returned 3rd
marking period rubrics and report card envelopes,
please do so as soon as possible.
Report cards are to be kept at home! Thank you!!
DIBELS testing for the end-of-the-year will begin the last
week of April. Please review
letter naming, First Sounds, segmenting, and nonsense words. The time for each is 1 minute!
Kindergarten Physicals will be held on Thursday, April 23rd
for any children who received a PURPLE note from the nurse. **If
you did not receive a note then a physical is NOT needed at this time. **If you haven’t yet returned your
purple note, please do so as soon as possible.
