Week of November 24-28, 2014

Kindergarten News
This week we will continue learning the vowel letter Ii as in inch and icicle. We will not be starting a new Reading story, but please take some time to read at home with your child and continue to practice the high frequency sight word flashcards.  Our “Book Buddy” recording sheets for the month of November will be due back on December 2nd when we return from our Thanksgiving break.  The goal for the month is 16 books!  (Books do not have to just be library or “book buddy” books.  You can record any books read together at home.)

For Math, we will take our Topic 3 Test for numbers 6-10 on Monday, 11/24.  Practice counting sets and writing numbers 0-10 correctly.  We will begin Topic 4, ordering and comparing numbers 0-10 on Tuesday.

This week we will continue our Thanksgiving Theme and will celebrate our own Kindergarten Thanksgiving by watching Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving with our 4th grade, reading buddies.  Students will bring home a Thanksgiving bracelet and will get to be Pilgrims and Indians for a day!

On Tuesday, November 25th, a letter to Santa will be coming home for you to complete with your child.  Please return this letter by Tuesday, December 2nd.  **A postman will be visiting sometime early in December to pick up the letters at school and take them directly to Santa at the North Pole! **Please be sure to include a return address on the envelope and address the envelope to SANTA!

Wednesday, November 26th will be an early dismissal @ 1:00pm and will be our last day of school before the holiday break.  There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, Friday, and Monday, November 27-December 1.  School reopens on Tuesday, December 2nd.  **Please note there will be NO SNACK needed and NO BREAKFAST served on Wed., Nov. 26th due to the early dismissal. (Lunch for Kindergarten will be from 9:15-9:45 and Art 12:00-12:30.)

Monday will be Day 2- Music on the special classes’ schedule.  (Don’t forget library books on Tuesday, Nov. 25th)
