Kindergarten News
· There will be NO SCHOOL for
students on Monday, October 13th (Columbus Day) due to a teacher
in-service day. School will reopen
on Tuesday, October 14th.
·
For Reading we will finish the story Dig, Dig, Digging and we will begin Unit
2, Look at Us!. The first story is
Flowers (please note the change from Life
in an Ocean). Watch for your
new Family Times newsletter. Please review recognizing capital and
lowercase letters from Aa to Zz and the high frequency words; I, am, the, little, to, a, have and is. We will be learning the vowel letter Aa
as in apple and acorn. We will
focus on the short vowel sound.
Letter tiles will be coming home on Wednesday nights. Please practice and return the next
school day! **Don’t forget to practice ALL sight word flashcards daily!!!

In Math we will be counting sets of objects to 5,
writing numbers 1-5, comparing sets, and representing numbers to 5. Take some time to review daily
worksheets!!!
·
We are currently collecting money for the scheduled
classroom parties (Halloween and Valentine). Please send in $5.00 in an envelope with your child’s name
and classroom and mark “Party Money” on the outside of the envelope. Thank You!
·
Friday, October 31st will be our classroom
Halloween party and school-wide parade. Students are NOT to wear costumes to school!!! Costumes should be sent to school that
day in a bag with student’s name on the outside. Students will get dressed in costumes with the help of
teachers and homeroom helpers.
Keep in mind students will be dressing at school, so keep costumes as
simple as possible; (No spraying
hair at school, or a face full of make-up at school). More details will be
sent home in future newsletters.

Mark your calendar for Picture Re-take Day on Thursday,
October 23rd.
Anyone who had been absent on Picture Day in September is asked to be
photographed on re-take day. Also
anyone NOT happy with photos from Picture Day may return the complete package
of photos and have his/her photo retaken.

Parent/teacher
conferences will be held on Monday, November 10th. More information will be sent home. If you have any questions or concerns,

Thank you to the parents/grandparents who helped with
the Fall Festival. Your help was greatly appreciated; without YOU we couldn’t
have had such a successful and fun day!!!

October Scholastic book orders for Mrs. Potts (NOT BOOK FAIR) will be due on Tuesday,
October 21st for anyone
interested in ordering this month.

attached and can be used this month or
with the November book orders!

Tuesday, October 14th will be Day 4-Art, and students will be painting, so please do not send your child to school
in NEW clothes. Mrs. Zink suggests
that your send an old shirt to school to be used as a painting smock. It will be kept in school all year to
use in art class. Gym class
will be Wednesday, October 15th so don’t forget to wear sneakers! Students
will NOT need library books for exchange until Monday, October 20th.
