Kindergarten News
This week we will be working
on the letter Ww and its sound as in
wagon and watermelon. Review
identifying and writing letters learned.
Also practice blending letters in three, four, and five letter words. We will have Show & Tell so please
follow the schedule. **Word List 18 will be tested sometime
during the week.
To go along with our letter Ww, we will have Wacky Hair Day on
Friday, March 28th.
Start thinking about a wacky hairstyle for the day. Remember
boys and girls with short hair can always wear WIGS—they are wacky too!!!
Wednesday, March 26th
will be WATERY WEDNESDAY. We
will be talking about water and completing different experiments involving
water throughout the day. It will
be WONDERFUL!
For Reading we will read the
story, Abuela by author Arthur
Dorros. This will be the last of
our “adventure” stories for Unit 4.
It will be a fiction story about a city adventure and the boys and girls
will learn a few Spanish words. We
will focus on the comprehension skill, setting. We will review the sound of short /e/. Watch for the new Family Times newsletter in your child’s folder.
For Math we will continue
with Topic 9; Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10. Students will decompose numbers less
than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way, will find the number for
any number from 1-9 that makes 10 when added to the given number, and will
classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each
category and sort the categories by count. Review practice pages as they come home in the folder.
Students in Grades 3-6 will
be taking the PSSA tests starting Friday, March 28th through Friday,
April 4th. Kindergarten
will have a change of schedule during those dates. Special classes will be held from
9-9:40 (with the exception of Thurs.
April 3rd—graduation photo day (11:00-11:40)) Lunch 11:40-12:10,
Snack 1:45-2:00, Recess 2:00-2:30.
Please talk to your child about being quiet while in the hallways during
testing days!! Regular schedules
will resume the week of April 7th!
**If you do NOT wish to
purchase pictures, please send a note stating that, so the teacher knows your
child just didn’t forget to bring the envelope/money. Thank you!!
***Mrs. Potts’ class will be
photographed first at 9:00 am so please have your child to school on time!
****If your child needs any
additional portrait info sheets & or order envelopes please let the teacher
know and one will be sent home.
**The PTO Spring Fling Chinese Auction will be held on April 12th
and 13th. Our class’ theme basket will be “A Night With the Family”. So
far Mrs. Potts has received; A Cake mix, popcorn and bags, two kinds of
puzzles, a taco kit, jar of salsa, tortilla chips, M&Ms, Nestle hot cocoa
mix, ice pop maker w/ juice packets, a card game, Connect 4 game, Ants in the
Pants game, 48 piece wood tower game, a Disney Cars game, a $20 McDonald’s gift
card, a $25 Regal movies gift card, an “I Knew You Could” book and 4 DVDs. Donations are due to the teacher
ASAP. Thank you for your
support!!
