upcoming United States’ report.

This week in Phonics we will begin learning the consonant letter Zz as in zebra and zoo. Students will be learning
their Zip codes. On Friday,
Mrs. Potts will ask students to say their zip codes and treats will be given! Students will be showing and telling some
information about an assigned state as part of an oral report and research
project for the vowel letter Uu.
Please follow your child’s Show & Tell schedule! **Word List 11 will be
tested on Friday, January 24th (Please note List 10 was
accidently skipped and will be tested on 1/31). Please practice daily!
·
We will be starting the next story farfallina
and marcel for Reading. In
this book we will talk about the comprehension strategy “plot” and how
friendships are formed and can change.
We will also review the letter Ff.
Watch for your new Family Times news!
·
In Math we will be finishing Topic 6; Numbers to 100. Practice counting by 1s and 10s to 100
and talk about the patterns on a 100 chart, like counting by 2s; odd and even
numbers. Take some time
to review daily practice pages!
·
The 3rd marking period begins this week and report cards
are scheduled to go home on Friday, January 24th. Please
keep in mind that this is a standards based report card and it is not your
typical report card with “grades”. The scoring rubric is designed with the standards that are
expected to be met by the end of
Kindergarten. Your child’s goal is
to score a 3, or mastery of the standard,
and if he/she has scored a 1 or 2 in any areas, then these are the areas that
your child needs to strengthen and improve by the end of Kindergarten. Only some of the standards are scored
during the 2nd marking period, so if you see an N/A or XX on the report card then these standards will be scored in
the 3rd and/or 4th periods. **Be sure to SIGN
and RETURN the report card, rubrics, and testing pages sent home. **After all
report cards have been reviewed, signed and returned to the teacher they will
be sent home again for you to keep.
(If you have any questions or concerns, then please contact the
teacher.)
