Kindergarten
News
This
week and the two days after winter break, we will be learning the consonant
letter Kk as in kite and
kangaroo. Start looking for your
Show and Tell for the letter Kk, but
please note the following change of schedule: Tuesday, December 17th
and Wednesday December 18th will be Kk Show and Tell for the
Tues/Wed students and Thursday, January 2nd and Friday, January 3rd
will be Kk Show and Tell for the Thurs./Friday students. One day during the week, the boys will
get to be “Kings for a Day!” (Girls
will be returned the favor when we learn the letter Q for queen!) **Word List 7 WILL be tested on Thursday, December 19th.
For
Reading we will continue with the story Little
Panda. Many boys and
girls may be interested in checking the live Panda Cam at the San Diego Zoo
from home. If you are
interested, as a follow up to our story Little
Panda, you can see some real pandas live at the following website: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/pandacam/ or go to Mrs. Potts’
Homework Helpline on the NS website and click on Symbaloo Webmix on the left
side and then on the panda/San Diego Zoo box. Be sure to continue
to practice high frequency sight word flash cards!!! Our 1st report cards will be coming up at the end
of January!!
In
Math we will finish Topic 5; numbers to 20. Take some time to practice counting sets of objects to 20,
writing numbers correctly to 20, and being able to use 10 frames to show
numbers to 20.
On
Tuesday, December 17th students and teachers will travel to the high
school to hear the High School students perform a holiday concert for the
elementary. K-2 will go in the
morning. Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la! (This will be a Non Rotation Day—No special classes held!)
There
will be an early dismissal on Friday, December 20th. Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm
**Please note there will be NO BREAKFAST served due to the
early dismissal. (Lunch for Kindergarten will be from 9:15-9:45 and our special
class will be @ 12:00-12:30.) **This will also
be our “Polar Express” day. Students are asked to wear their pajamas to school to
dress like the characters in the book.
**Hot chocolate and cookies will
be served!
Kindergarten
students are collecting supplies to be sent to military men and women
overseas. Donations are due by December 20th. A list of requested food & snacks,
toiletries, and entertainment items is enclosed in your child’s folder. Thank
you for your support!!!
Monday,
December 16th will be Day 5 on the special classes’ schedule and
students will need gym attire and sneakers! **Also remember to pack
library books for exchange on Friday, December 20th.
(**Please
note: Whenever school is
closed due to inclement weather, the rotation schedule is just bumped to the
next school day, so students do not miss the scheduled special class for the
cancelled day.)
