Kindergarten News
· This week we will be
learning the consonant letter Pp as
in pig, pink, and pumpkin. We
will have Show & Tell for the letter Pp
so take a peek around your house and pick something to share with the class. Please
follow the schedule! . (**A Pajama party will be held on Wednesday, October 16th. Details will be sent home in a future
newsletter.) Please go over
the identification of the letters Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, and Tt; as well as the sounds
each letter makes. Boys and
girls need to be able to name the letters and produce the sounds before we
blend sounds to read words.
· We will be starting our 5th story for
Reading, Julius. Watch for your Family Times
newsletter to come home on Monday.
Our focus will be on the story’s setting. Continue to read at home and practice the high frequency
words; I, am, the, to, a, name, and little; practice
rhyming and counting syllables in words and identifying the letters from Aa-Zz.
Your child should be able to read the little readers that come home on day 2 of
the new story!
· For Math we will finish
up with Topic 2; comparing objects 0-5, writing numbers 0-5, and understanding
ordinal numbers through fifth.
Review the words/concepts more,
fewer, same as. Continue to review the daily math
practice pages as well.
· Our Theme for the
upcoming week will be Fire Safety to prepare for Fire Prevention Week -October
6-12. Please take some time at
home to discuss fire safety with your child and family. Be sure to have a practice fire drill,
create an escape plan with a designated meeting place, and Be Cool About Fire
Safety!
· October Scholastic book
orders will be due on Tuesday, October 8th for anyone interested in
ordering this month.
· Mark your calendar; Picture retakes will be held at NSE
on Friday, November 1st.
Anyone who may have been absent on
Picture Day in September is asked to be photographed on re-take day. Also anyone NOT happy with photos or had
a problem may call PSP at 1-800-248-6394 to get a correction or your child may return the photos and
be photographed again on retake day.

FYI: The Kindergarten
Fall Festival will be held at the school on Thursday, October 17th. Parent and grandparent volunteers who have the necessary
clearances are welcome and needed to help with this fun-filled day! Any questions please contact Trish
Kodack @ 570-933-5147. **Anyone
who has not yet sent in $4.00 for Fall Festival is asked to do so ASAP.
· Just a reminder: The deadline for donations for The
Children’s Book Drive is Monday, October 7th. All donations should be suitable for
children up to 12 years old. Books
should be deposited in the boxes at the entrance to the cafeteria. Only books in good condition will be
accepted. Thank you for your
help!!
· Many boys and girls
received a Tootsie roll Treat for knowing their telephone numbers. Those
who did not yet know their telephone number are encouraged to practice and I
will retest them for a treat this week!
Monday, September 30th will be Day 4--Art
. **Students will need gym attire
and sneakers on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. Library books will need to be returned on or before Friday,
October 4th for book exchange with Mrs. Hope in the library.
