Kindergarten News
- This
week in Phonics we will be learning long vowel sounds: /a/ as in acorn,
/e/ as in equal, /i/ as in icicle, /o/ as in overalls, and /u/ as in
unicorn. There will be NO
Show and Tell. **Word List 20 will be tested on Monday, March 25th and
then Word List 21 will not be tested until after the Easter break--on
Friday, April 5th.
- For Reading we will begin the story The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. It is a classic fantasy story, and we will be talking about how trains move. We will be learning about short /u/ sound and the comprehension skill, plot. Watch for your new Family Times newsletter!
- In
Math we will continue to use tangrams and explore slides, turns, and
flips. We will be working
with pennies, nickels, dimes, and a quarter. Take some time to review the daily practice worksheets!
- An
Easter
egg hunt will be held on either Wednesday, March 27th or
Thursday, March 28th depending on the weather, but there will
be NO classroom party! The boys and girls will be
looking for eggs with the word “what” printed on the outside. Be sure to review this word with
your child!
· The
4th marking period will begin on Tuesday, March 26th. Report cards will be sent home
on Wednesday, March 27th.
Parents are asked to sign and return the report cards as soon as
possible. If there are any
questions or concerns and/or a conference is requested, then please contact the
teacher.
- There
will be NO school for students Friday, March 29th, Monday,
April 1st, and Tuesday, April 2nd. School will reopen (for Teachers Only on Tuesday, April 2nd and) for Students on Wednesday, April 3rd.
- Our Kindergarten Field Trip has been scheduled!! We will be going to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Giant Center in Hershey on Thursday, May 23rd. It is the Red Tour, Built to Amaze! Check it out @ www.ringling.com
- Kindergarten
Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 4th. (There will be NO make-up picture day.) Envelopes
were sent home with portrait package information. If interested in
purchasing pictures then please
return the money before Spring/ Easter break or on the day before
pictures, Wednesday, April 3rd. (Cash or checks made payable to P.S.P) **All students will be
photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to
wear under a graduation gown.
Girls should not have ponytails high on their heads or wear big
hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap!
**If you do NOT wish to purchase pictures, please send a
note stating that, so the teacher knows your child just didn’t forget to bring
the envelope/money. Thank
you!!!

Monday, March 25th
is Day 5—Music class. Students will need sneakers and gym attire
on Wednesday, March 27th. **Library
books will not be needed this week.
