Kindergarten News
· This week we will be
learning the letter Qq as in
quilt. The girls will finally get
to be Queens for a Day on Tuesday, March 19th! We will learn about combination “qu” too. The boys and girls will even be invited to participate in
a special wedding ceremony for Q and U on Thursday, March 21st (See
Wedding note enclosed in folder.)
There will be NO show and tell for the letter Qq.
**Word
List 19 will be tested on Monday, March 18th! Please practice daily!
**Boys and girls finally
went on a treasure hunt throughout the building to find the “X” that marked the
spot of their hidden treasure! How
eX-citing!!!!
· For Reading we will introduce
the next story titled Messenger,
Messenger by Robert Burleigh.
It is a rhyming story and we will be talking about transportation jobs. The comprehension skill we will focus
on with this story is compare and
contrast and the phonics skill will be the short /u/ sound. Watch for your new Family Times newsletter!
· In Math, we will be solving
a problem by drawing a picture and looking for a pattern, identifying the
numbers 11-30, identifying a sphere and ordering objects by size, sorting coins
and identifying a quarter and a dollar, and covering designs using tangrams. Take some time to review the daily
practice pages that come in your child’s folder.
· On Monday, March 18th
students will get to watch the annual 3rd grade St. Patrick’s Day
parade. Students are encouraged to
wear a bit of green to help celebrate the holiday!
· Mrs. Hull will be visiting
our classroom on Monday, March 18th for a monthly guidance
lesson. During
March and/or April Mrs. Hull (guidance counselor) will be observed by a
Bloomsburg Student learning about the field of school counseling. (If any child is currently receiving
group or individual counseling and parent / guardian does not want the
Bloomsburg student attending any sessions with Mrs. Hull and your
child, please call 874-3661 x3019.)
· Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 4th. (There will be NO make-up picture
day.) Envelopes are being sent
home with portrait package information.
If interested in purchasing pictures then please return the money before Spring/ Easter break or on the day
before pictures, Wednesday, April 3rd. (Cash
or checks made payable to P.S.P)
**All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need
a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown. Girls should not have ponytails high on
their heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a
graduation cap!
**If you do NOT wish to
purchase pictures, please send a note stating that, so the teacher knows your
child just didn’t forget to bring the envelope/money. Thank you!!!

Monday, March 18th is Day 5—Music class. Students will need sneakers and gym attire on Wednesday,
March 20th and library books on Friday, March 22nd.
