Kindergarten News
*This week in Phonics we will be learning the consonant
letter Vv as in vest and
violin. There will not
be Show and Tell due to our dinosaur reports. **Word List 15 will be tested on Tuesday, February 19th and
Word List 16 will be tested on Friday, February 22nd. Practice daily!
*For
Reading we will begin an informational text titled If You Could Go to Antarctica, by author Fay Robinson. We will practice the comprehension
skill classify and categorize. Please practice high frequency word
cards. We will be adding the new
cards, here, go, and from this week.
*In
Math we will be working with identifying a cylinder and ordering objects by
height & paying for items to 25 cents and 50 cents using nickels.
*Thank you
to the homeroom moms for helping with the Valentine’s Day classroom party! Students had a LOVE-ly time. It was
SWEET of you to volunteer! XOXO
*Even
though Anti-Bully week is over take some time to talk with your child about
bullying and discuss what he/she learned.

The PTO Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser will end on Wednesday, February 20th! Those who are participating are
reminded to return $ and order forms by 2/20. Thank you for your support!

Just a reminder there will be NO
SCHOOL on Monday, February 18th (President’s Day) for students and
teachers. Enjoy the long weekend and take some time to work on your dinosaur
reports! School will reopen on
Tuesday, February 19th
and it will be Day 1—Art Class. **Students will be painting with
watercolors in Art class on Tuesday, so dress your child accordingly!!! Boys & girls will need gym attire and sneakers on Wednesday,
February 20th and library books for exchange on Friday, February 22nd.
Happy ½ birthdays to Cecelia Rau and Barry Berger! We celebrated Cecelia’s special day (July 9th) last
Friday, 2/8, and we will be celebrating Barry’s summer birthday (July 19th)
on Tuesday, 2/19. Best wishes to
you both for your 6th birthdays!
