Kindergarten
News
This
week we will be learning the consonant letter Kk as in kite and kangaroo.
Start looking for your Show and Tell for the letter Kk, and follow the schedule, which will begin on Tuesday. One day during the week, the boys will
get to be “Kings for a Day!” (Girls
will be returned the favor when we learn the letter Q for queen!) **Word List 7 will be tested on Thursday, December 13th.
For
Reading we will continue with Unit 3; Watch Me Change. The next story will be Little Quack by Lauren Thompson. It will be an animal fantasy
story. The skill plot,
or the “what happens part of the
story”, will be introduced. Watch
for your new Family Times newsletter and practice high frequency sight word
flash cards!!!
**Many
of the boys and girls were interested in checking the live Panda Cam at the San
Diego Zoo from home. If you are interested, as a follow up
to our story Little Panda, you can
see some real pandas live at the following website: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/pandacam/ or go to Mrs. Potts’
Homework Helpline on the NS website and click on Symbaloo Webmix on the left
side and then on the panda/San Diego Zoo box.
In
Math we will be working on identifying a cube and counting with one-to-one
correspondence, matching a set of objects to a number card, copying line
segments, shapes, and designs on a geoboard, and counting by 10’s. Take some time to review skills and
daily practice pages with your child.
On
Friday, December 14th students and teachers will travel to the high
school to hear the High School students perform a holiday concert for the
elementary. K-2 will go in the
morning. Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Please note: There will be an early dismissal on Friday, December 21st. Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm
(NOT 11:45 as printed on the last
Kindergarten Newsletter). **Please note there will be NO BREAKFAST served due to the early
dismissal. (Lunch for Kindergarten will be from 9:15-9:45 and our special class
will be @ 12:00-12:30.)
**This
will also be our “Polar Express” day (see
note enclosed in your child’s folder).
Students are asked to wear their pajamas to school to dress like the
characters in the book. **Hot chocolate and cookies will be served!
Monday,
December 10th will be Day 2 on the special classes’ schedule and
students will need gym attire and sneakers! **Also remember to pack
library books for exchange on Thursday, December 13th.
