Kindergarten
News
**This week
in Phonics we will continue working on the consonant letter Mm
and its sound as in monkey and mom and introduce the vowel letter Ii and
its short sound as in igloo and inch and its long sound as in ice. There will
be NO show & tell for this vowel letter. Practice new Word List #3 & review, sign,
and return Word List #2.
**We will
read the story Bear Snores On by Karma
Wilson and Jane Chapman in Reading.
We will be discussing hibernation
and will learn to differentiate between real and make believe. Watch for the
new Family Times newsletter to be
sent home.
**In Math
we will be working on matching a number card to a set of objects, naming a
shape using 3 attributes (shape, color, and size), acting out story problems
using pennies, and Identifying time to the hour. Take some time to review the daily practice pages and try to
practice these skills at home with your child.
**NSE
Picture Re-Take/Make-up day will be held on Monday, Nov. 5th. Please make sure if your child is
having picture re-takes to send his/her first package of pictures with them
that day. If your child is having
pictures taken for the first time, the payment is due the same day as pictures
are taken.
**Scholastic
book orders for this month are due by Wednesday, Nov. 7th for anyone
interested in ordering. Orders can
be placed online at scholastic.com or can be sent to school with your child!
**Report cards are being distributed on
Tuesday, November 6h.
Please review your child’s report card with him/her and sign and return
it as soon as possible. If you
have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Potts at apotts@northschuylkill.net or
874-3661 Ext. 3245.
**Parent/teacher
conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 6th. Parents
can either attend the 4:00pm or 5:00pm session. If you are unable to attend please let the teacher know
whether a phone conference is needed.
Pink forms were sent home earlier with details. The
sessions will begin promptly at 4 and 5 so plan to be on time. Thank you!
**There
will be NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, November 9th due to a
scheduled ACT 80 day. Enjoy the
long weekend! :)
**Daylight
Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 4th. Remember to turn your clocks back 1 hour. (**As
the student handbook states, once the clocks change, students are NO longer
able to wear shorts to school.
When the clocks move forward in spring then students can begin wearing
shorts (weather permitting) to school again.) FALL BACK…SPRING FORWARD
Monday, November 5th
is Day 1 – Art
class. Please be sure to wear
sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, November 6th and pack library
books for exchange on Thursday, November 8th.
