There will be NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, October 8th (Columbus Day) due to a teacher in-service day. School will reopen on Tuesday, October 9th!
· This week we will be continuing
the consonant letter Pp as in pig, pink, and pumpkin, and to celebrate we will
have a Pajama Party on Friday, October 12th. Students are asked to wear their
pajamas to school. Robes and slippers are optional, however we ask that
students WEAR SNEAKERS to school and change into slippers after they arrive
(due to outside recess, possible inclement weather and GYM CLASS). **Keep
in mind that pancakes and punch will be
served in the morning so boys and girls need NOT eat a lot for
breakfast—unless they do not like pancakes, then they should eat breakfast as
usual.
· We will finish up with the story Dig, Dig, Digging in Reading. Please continue to review the high
frequency sight words; I, am, the,
little, to, a, my, love, and name. (We will not start a new story until the following week.)
· In Math we will be identifying,
describing, and comparing triangles and squares, naming a shape piece using 3
attributes (shape, color, and size), and creating and extending AB
patterns. We also will be naming
and ordering the numbers 0-10.
· October Scholastic book orders
will be due on Tuesday, October 9th for anyone interested in
ordering this month.
· Thursday, October 11th is our FALL FESTIVAL. Any parents or grandparents who have clearances on file in
the office are invited to help.
Set up will begin at approximately 7:30. All activities will be outside (weather permitting), so
please check the weather and dress your child accordingly. Please NO SHORTS and send a jacket as
needed. Boys and girls are to
follow the dress code (NO JEANS). Sneakers are recommended! The Fall Festival is planned for the
morning and early afternoon. We
will end at 12:30 before we have lunch and gym. Students will get to spend much of the time with their 4th
grade Reading Buddies! **
Anyone who has not yet turned in FALL FESTIVAL MONEY $3.00, is asked to try and
send it in as soon as possible.
The parents who are planning the FALL FESTIVAL will need to shop for
supplies and goodies. Thank you
for your cooperation.
· October 7-13 is Fire Prevention
Week so please take some time at home to discuss fire safety with your child
and family. Be sure to have a
practice fire drill, create an escape plan with a designated meeting place, and
Be Cool About Fire Safety!
· There is an updated October
calendar being sent home in your child’s folder. The reason for the new calendar is that on Thursday, October
11th the students in grades K-6 will attend a program in the gym at
their special class time and in order to NOT miss their assigned special class,
the schedule has been moved up one day. (Day 2A being on Friday instead.) Our class will have gym on Friday,
October 12th instead of Thursday!
Tuesday, October 9th will be Day 5--Music on
the special classes’ schedule. **Students will need gym attire and sneakers
on Friday, Oct. 12th!
(Library books will not be needed
until the following week)
Also students will
be painting in Art class on Wednesday, October 10th, so please do
not send your child to school in NEW clothes. Plan an outfit that is OKAY to paint in, but still dress
code appropriate.
