*Thank you to the parents for helping the boys and girls to prepare for their dinosaur reports this week while learning the letter Dd. They did a DINO-mite job!
*For Reading we will begin an informational text titled If You Could Go to Antarctica, by author Fay Robinson. We will practice the comprehension skill classify and categorize. Please practice the new high frequency words here, go, and from.
*In Math we will be working with identifying a cylinder and ordering objects by height & paying for items to 25 cents and 50 cents using nickels.
*Friday, March 2nd is Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Throughout the week we will be reading some great books by Dr. Seuss and making some fun things to go along with the stories. Some graduate students from Bloomsburg University will visit our classroom on Friday to read the book, Green Eggs and Ham, and do a follow up activity with the students. We may have a guest reader and also work with Mrs. Selgrade’s 3rd grade class with the book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”! Be sure to ask your child about their day!
*Toothbrush charts are due back at the end of next week. Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a “dental health” treat from Mrs. Potts. Remember to continue to eat healthy foods, brush and floss your teeth, and visit a dentist at least once a year to keep your smile looking great!
*Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools. It will be starting on Monday, March 5th and continue through Friday, March 9th. Be sure to watch for additional notes that will be sent home in your child’s folder next week.
*During our ACT 80 day last Friday, Mrs. Potts created a Symbaloo Webmix. It is a website that students can use to link to many other educational websites all from one place. I have a link posted on the left hand side of my Homework Helpline blog. CHECK IT OUT! :)
*You may have noticed some “packets” of papers in your child’s KEEP side this week. These were letter practice pages students completed at Center Time during Kid Writing. The work is completed in small group and/or individually without the teacher’s help. Take some time to review the pages with your child.
Monday (2/27/12) will be Day 1 on the special classes’ schedule. **Boys and girls will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday-Day 2 and library books on Thursday-Day 4.
