Week of February 21-25, 2011



Kindergarten News

~This week we will be working on the letter Dd as in dog and dinosaur. There will be NO Show and Tell, but in its place we will be giving our dinosaur reports. Please follow your classroom schedule! **Details and information about the reports were sent home in your child’s folder. Word List 14 will be tested on Thursday, February 24th. Please practice daily!

~For Reading we will begin Unit 4 with the story Bunny Day by Rick Walton. It will be about what adventures take place in Bunny’s day from breakfast to bedtime. The focus skill of this story is sequence. Watch for your new Family Times newsletter!

~In Math we will be practice ABC patterns, solve a problem by “Guessing and Checking”, identify nickels, trade 5 pennies for a nickel, count by 5’s, and count nickels to 25 cents. Boys and girls will practice writing the numbers 1-20 correctly too. Take some time at home to review the coins penny, nickel, and dime and the values of each.

~On Monday, February 21st there will be NO SCHOOL for students or teachers. Enjoy the long weekend and take some time to work on your dinosaur reports! School will reopen on Tuesday, February 22nd and it will be Day 4 on the special classes’ rotation schedule. **Students will need library books for exchange on Thursday, February 24th and sneakers and gym attire on Friday, February 25th (Day 3).

~Thank you to the homeroom moms for helping with the Valentine’s Day classroom party on Monday! Students had a LOVE-ly time. It was SWEET of you to volunteer! XOXO

~Toothbrush charts will be due back at the start of March. Any student who returns his/her chart will receive a “dental health” treat from Mrs. Potts. Remember to continue to eat healthy foods, brush and floss your teeth, and visit a dentist at least once a year to keep your smile looking great!
