Kindergarten News
**This week in Phonics we will be working on the consonant letter Mm and its sound as in monkey and mom. We will have Show & Tell so please follow the classroom schedule. Practice new Word List #2 & review, sign, and return Word List #1.
**We will read the story Armadillo’s Orange by Jim Arnosky in Reading. We will be talking about orange groves and learning about the letter Ss and the /s/ sound. We will focus on learning the setting of a story and will practice the learned high frequency words: have, is, little, I, a, am, the, and to.
**In Math we will be working on Acting out story problems using pennies, Identifying time to the hour, Identifying ordinal position to fourth, Identifying the numbers 0-10, and Identifying before, after, and between. Take some time to review the daily practice pages and try to practice these skills at home with your child.
**A big Thank You goes out to the PTO for the NSE T-shirts. Students received their blue North Schuylkill Elementary T-shirts as a gift from the PTO. Students are welcome to wear their shirts for spirit days and gym class days, however we are asking that parents keep in mind the T-shirts will be needed for class field trips and possibly some other school activities. Please keep them on hand for such events! (Keep in mind that if your child’s shirt is lost or damaged, parents will be responsible for purchasing a new one.) --Monday, Nov. 8th will be the next monthly PTO meeting in the school cafeteria @ 6:30 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
**Scholastic book orders for this month are due by Tuesday, Nov. 9th for anyone interested in ordering. Orders can be placed online at scholastic.com or can be sent to school with your child!
**Thank you to all the parents who attended the parent/teacher conferences on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. Your interest and support in your child’s education is important to your child’s success!
**Report cards are being distributed on Friday, November 5h. Please review your child’s report card with him/her and sign and return it as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Potts at apotts@northschuylkill.net or 874-3661 Ext. 3245.
**Since the colder weather is upon us, please be sure your child has a warmer jacket, mittens or gloves, and a hat (which can be kept in cubbies or backpacks) so that when we go out for our 30 minute recess the students are prepared for any changes in temperature or for the lengthy time outside. We try to get outside whenever possible—if dressed properly, the fresh air does us good!!!
Monday, November 8th is Day 4 – Computer Class. Just a reminder that Thursday, Nov. 11th will be gym class and library. Be sure to have sneakers and library book!
