Kindergarten News
This week we will be learning the letter Xx as in fox and x-ray. Students will go on a treasure hunt throughout the building to find the “X” that marks the spot of their hidden treasure! How exciting!!! There will be NO Show and Tell.
In Reading we will begin the story, My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza. It is an animal fantasy (fiction) story and we will focus on the comprehension skill cause and effect. This week we will review the /l/ sound and connect it with the letter Ll.
Monday, March 22nd will be our Chapter 9 Math test on Measurement. Please review with practice workbook pages sent home on Friday. Our next chapter will be Chapter 10: Data, Graphing, and Probability. In this chapter we will learn more about graphs and about tally tables. We will also learn when something is more likely or less likely to happen. Watch for practice pages to come home with your child.
Starting sometime next week and/or the following week we will begin testing for the 3rd marking period. Please help your child prepare by reviewing all the letters and sounds learned in phonics, blending sounds to read words, practice high frequency words and sight words, practice rhyming words, practice counting to 100, identifying numbers 0-30, identifying coins; penny, nickel, and dime, and know each coin’s value, and tell time to the hour.
The North Schuylkill Spartan Baseball team is sponsoring its annual NS Relay for Life t-shirt sale. Order forms will come home in Friday's folder for anyone interested in a North Schuylkill Relay for Life t- shirt. All orders are due by Friday April 9, and all proceeds will be donated by the Spartan Baseball team to the North Schuylkill Relay for Life team to support the American Cancer Society. The Annual Relay for Life baseball game will be played on Friday May 14 at the North Schuylkill Baseball field. Please support the Spartan Baseball team in this worthy cause!
Monday (3//22/10) will be DAY 1 on the special classes’ schedule. **Boys and girls will need sneakers and gym attire on Tuesday, March 23rd – DAY 2.
Saturday, March 20th will be our first day of spring.
